Were you not convinced by the women at the end of the BBC video? Her research sounded scientific and robust.

Fair play to most flat-earthers. At least they commit to a position and don't come out with the 'I'm just posing some questions' line so beloved of conspiracy theorists.

My old maths teacher used to define a straight line as "the arc of a circle whose radius is infinity".
I totally disagree with him. A straight line is the shortest distance between two points (unless you're driving through Edinburgh of course).

Easily explained (on behalf of the Flatliners so to speak ) .....
The first boat is slowly sinking and the second one is throwing their catch overboard on the starboard side thus making it slowly get lighter and rise in the water.
Next!
(TBH, as soon as I hear an off-the-wall theory explained in an American accent, I tend to think "wacko")

There was a thread on here a while back about this. I remember looking at their website and watching some videos at the time. I find these things fascinating. I often wonder if it’s just a big joke, or do people really believe in this sort of thing. Scientology is another one that’s just as weird. It looks like it starts as a bit of fun, then grows into something weird.

Think it was me who started that. When me and kell were up inn Aviemore in the summer I passed a lot of signs saying 'the earth is flat'. Few days after we were back I seen the same outside bathgate. Also seen one the other day on the cash machine at stenhouse cross tesco.
I like a few have said looked inot it as curiosity and they truly are mental. I think some Rapper, B.O.B, is trying to fund a space ship to go into the sky and prove its flat by photos :faf:
If you found it interesting/mental reading about this just look at the hollow earth theory as well. Just as mental.

Rodders appears to be one of the Flat enthusiasts .....
From EL Courier:
"AN ATTEMPT to reverse a council decision which blocked flats from being built in Longniddry has failed.
Seven flats were planned to replace a house at 37 King’s Road but the proposals were rejected by East Lothian Council’s planning committee at the end of last year.
The applicant – Mr R M Petrie – appealed the decision to the Scottish Government’s Planning and Environmental Appeals Division ."

You won't find many flat earthers amongst the sophisticated football intelligentsia of the Hibees' support. We like our spherical objects - particularly when they're rolling along the ground or bursting the Jambos' net!
In any case though, there is a lot of evidence to suggest that the emergence of flat earth theory is in fact just a big fat psyops - put out there by the CIA or similar to discredit
by association those who believe in and promote much more credible conspiracy theories. This makes sense as the sudden emergence of a plethora of video blogger types - many of whom have at least enough intellect to put together some pretty snazzy videos in which they postulate passionately about the bogus drivel-fest that is flat earth theory - just does not stand up to much scrutiny.
It has been observed that the majority of the sources expounding this "theory" appeared out of nowhere within months of each other - all reading from essentially the same script. There are obviously a few genuine people out there who really are gullible and stupid enough to swallow it, but this notion's seemingly organic emergence just makes no sense at all. By and large, people that are gormless enough to buy into this sort of nonsense would struggle to wield a crayon never mind sophisticated graphics and video editing software - ergo it's another incidence of "fake news" IMO, put out there to confuse and deflect rather than to inform. And it's doing a fine job of it as well! The sheer ludicrous inanity of it has attracted many a cheap hack to fill their column inches with smug knowing analysis, while what look like genuine conspiracies - such as the Skripal and East Ghouta chemical shock stories - are given the sort of analysis that a two year old would be embarrassed by - and the world moves on.

That's my interpretation too, and if it's genuine, I applaud their dedication to the cause. They've played one very long-game, managing to engage and enrage people alike (including many celebrity scientists).
I also view conspiracy theories as healthy - I support any questioning of events - it's what drives my career. My pet peeve is where people begin to disagree with evidence when it becomes abundant, trying to somehow invalidate experts with their high-school science qualifications (cf. the collapse of the WTC buildings).

I quite like watching that show as well, but they’ve never been able to come up with anything nearly conclusive to say hitler fled to South America. It’s clear that many nazis did end up there, and some of the stuff they were building points to someone pretty important either being there or being expected to arrive.

Your last point annoys me. Jet fuel can’t melt steal beams etc. There’s plenty videos where “experts” claim that it wasn’t possible for the WTC to collapse the way it did. But I bet there’s about 50x more who say that it could, it’s just nowhere near as interesting to hear someone doing that.

Don't want to go off topic, but I agree, it's never been officially claimed the steel melted (physical evidence shows none of it had melted) yet conspiracy theorists seem to use that as a pivotal point in their agrgument. :agree:
The force of the crash damaged the fireproof coating, the intense heat from the burning fuel softened the steel structure just enough that it couldn't hold the loading above it and as that all went for a burton the intact steel on the lower floors instantly went passed their loading limits and failed.

I hope it's not my actual point itself that annoys you, as I agree with you :greengrin - a myriad of factors came into play that day (Just Alf captures that well). I get really bothered when people disregard the complexity and focus in on one specific aspect to try and create a more interesting narrative. The garbage around WTC7 always bothered me just as much as WTC1 and 2.
