Really good player and disappointed we never kept him. He was a massive part of the turnaround at Tynecastle. His covering to make the challenge that hit our bar just after we scored was excellent defending and he gave us a real threat down the right.

Decent player but if we had kept him it would have just meant that we would have likely lost Porteous. Would he have displaced Hanlon, Ambrose, McGregor, Fontaine, and if we had kept him its unlikely we would have signed Ambrose so for me I wish him well but would rather have what we have.

Did we not play him on the right? None of the players above play in that position.

Might be wrong.

He came in as cover for Gray at right back, but played a number of positions in his short time with us, with a happy conclusion

How are Gais getting on? Lived in goteborg for a year and attended a Derby however I was in IFK's section with the then misses.

Gais reminded me so much of the hibs after that game I always hoped they'd do well. I see there in the lower tier now but are they likely to get back up anytime soon?

I always saw him as being the right hand side of a back 3 but even at right back he wasn’t better than Gray and subsequently Whittaker.

Versatile. Height of a centre half but athleticism for full back. All the attributes to be successful.

His debut at Raith had me thinking he was no better than what we had at the time. (And let go out in loan) He settled in well and we saw a player there alright.

Certainly looked a player and did a job for us. I have to admit I was surprised when he went home, I would have thought Hibs were a better bet for advancing his career than his parent club.

He will always be a cup winning hero though so its nice to see him doing well, but I cant help thinking in the years to come when folk are asked to name the 2016 cup winning team he will be the one they stumble on ...... 'damn, what the hell was the guys name again? ... I can see him now, tall guy came from ... Sweden I think it was' :greengrin

And it initially looked like he was coming on to replace the man now known as Sir David Gray!
Imagine how different things could have unfolded....

Wish nothing but the best to the big guy. In the same vein as most over the last 3/4 years that really "got" Hibs

"What a moment this is, It's Liam Henderson to deliver.....

Niklas Gunnarsson has scored, the big Norwegian, Hibs are standing on the brink of history, after 114 years they've almost done it, they've almost won the Scottish Cup"

Or something like that

Another Hibs connection. His club Djurgardens were our second round opponents during our glorious European Cup run in season 1955-56 and yes we beat them, albeit that their home leg was played at Partick Thistle's ground due to the vagaries of the Swedish weather.

He put one on to the bar when trying to tackle. The resulting corner lead to kt clearing it off the line.

Fantastic result for Djurgarden tonight - a 3-0 win v Malmo.

Niklas didn't start but came on at HT with the score 0-0. Djurgarden opened the scoring less than a minute into the second half so I think he changed the game! :-)

It's a psychological boost ahead of playing Malmo in the cup final next month, although they are actually due to play each other again before that.

Thats a very impressive result, Malmo are current Allsvenskan champions are they not? Djurgarden might fancy a shot at the title this year, certainly a sound start to their campaign.

Yeah, credit where credit is due the much maligned Kevin Thomson in his third spell with the club played his small part in our Cup success clearing off the line against the Hearts and helping to keep up morale behind the scenes with his big game experience in the cup run in. An excellent football player and very much one of our own.A true HIBS legend.
