There were 5 Icelanders bedecked in Hibs gear beside my mate in the South Stand. Over for one of the groups 70th!. They took up the invitation of a drink in Robbies before heading off for a meal. Good banter.

St Pauli is a really cool club, fascinating history and good fans. Glad they were having fun at ER.

Think it mightve been them in singing section, they sang their own version of Lenny song - adding in a Hoo and Hah, was pretty funny at the time. Then again it might not have been them.

Very true, hopefully next year as well as a Edinburgh derby there shall also be a Hamburg derby.

im in Hamburg in January for a gig, St Pauli will still be on the winter break and Hamburg are away. Looks like I will going to Bremen if I can make it back to the airport after the match

Problem I’ve got with St Pauli is that Celtic fans seem to have jumped on a bandwagon to make it almost their second club.

Don’t know if it’s reciprocated or not but always nice to see fans of other clubs taking an interest in the good guys.

Hamburg I think?

Pretty sure that’s why Hamburg and the rangers have now got this ‘special relationship’ on the go as well.

Apologies if I’m talking pish but I think that’s the case.

Hamburg

Yes St Pauli is port area of Hamburg near red light district. So natural pairing with Hibs in Leith. Have cult following accross Germany and beyond based on left and social activism. Have a ST PauIi T shirt.

Fantastic place, great community and it just feels right. St Pauli is an amazing experience where community, football and politics come together in one place. PS theres a few hibbys that go over frequently spreading the hibs word

Good luck to their support: a terrific ethos and family atmosphere. I hope they maintain it and don't sell out to hard commercialism. They are the true meaning of a football club being at the centre of a community rather than a business.

There were quite a few touristy groups in the South Stand, some Chinese and one group of Scandinavians (not sure which country exactly).

Don’t know if it’s reciprocated or not but always nice to see fans of other clubs taking an interest in the good guys. It's probably easier to list clubs and causes celtc fans don't claim to have some form of special yet superficial relationship with.

Probably just one of their fans has one of those half and half scarf pitches that you see outside the grounds at European games in particular and he frequently has left over stock to get rid of.

Yes St Pauli have a fan friendship with Celtic, solely based on politics really, but that's it St Pauli also have fan friendships with AEK Athens, Rayo Vallecano & Babelsberg (Babelsberg are a cracking outfit) German 4th division. I just think that because we live here we here about it being Celtic that bit more than anyone else. There are a lot of Hibs fans that travel across as well

And of course Bob Marley and Che were Celtic fans.I remember reading an article, where Bob said "Redemption Song" was originally called "Rebel Song". Turns out their weed guy was a massive Hun, and threatened to cut them off if they didn't change it. It's a sad fact, but Bob loved weed more than he loved Celtic....

I’m sure I read in Hibs Monthly years ago that he was a Hibbie? Did he not die at Harthill on a supporters bus?

Do Hibs fans have any formal "friendship" with another team? I'm sure Wikipedia used to say we were pals with Groningen in the Netherlands though never heard anything since.

Our group of friends has been linked with Eintracht Frankfurt for over 10 years. Between us, we attend 10-15 games a season over there. Their guys come over occasionally, the 2016 Scottish Cup final being the main one!

I’ve seen the Edinburgh Adler banner at some games. The Scandinavian fans were probably the Icelanders I mentioned earlier in the thread. I saw another group of about 5 young guys obviously tourists with kilts on at the East Stand ticket booth. I was told they got free tickets from someone in the end.

I have had a bit of success with St Pauli fans by explaining Celtc have more in common with Bayern Munich moneywise and player stealing wise than they have with St Pauli (they really dont like the Bavarians). The banner proclaiming we were their feeder team raised an eyebrow as well.

Mike, a Hibby from Edinburgh, moved to the Netherlands a number of years ago and joined the St Pat's branch when it was formed. He supported Groningen over there and they used to play at Easter Park, plus their colours are green and white, so of course, a bond was formed:thumbsup:

A large number of them came over for the League and Scottish Cup finals last year and they are close friends with Big G, who attended the final where they won the KNVB cup in 2015, their first major trophy :aok:
