I know when we went 7 unbeaten it was our best run since the 70s. Anyone know when we last went 8 unbeaten?

Mcleish era has been best other period since the 70's - he only lost once during 10 games in charge ( 5 wins 4 draws 1 defeat).

The longest unbeaten run we had in the early 2000s was six in a row.

We actually only lost once in twelve matches against them during that time, which was a run which went from January 1998 until December 2001 (5 wins, 6 draws and 1 defeat).

IIRC we had a period from mid 60s to late 70s where Yams only won 1 New Years Day game & only scored in 2. Mind you there were plenty 0-0 draws punctuated by a small victory on 1/1/73!

We only lost once in 23 games between 1/1/1969 and 26/8/1978 or twice in 28 games dating back to 10/9/1966 so 2 defeats in 12 years 🇳🇬🇳🇬

I make it 13 unbeaten during that time, with Hearts having been relegated in 1976/77?

Prior to that we went 8 league games unbeaten from 1969 to 1974, with Hearts failing to score in a single one of those games. The unbeaten run was actually 9 games in total as we also knocked them out the Scottish Cup in 1971, but they did manage a goal in a 2-1 defeat.

Basically we only appear to have lost to them twice between 1969 and 1983, although we only played each other twice a season back then excluding cup games.

More recently, McLeish had a fine record in derbies, losing just one in 10, while Franck Sauzee never lost a derby as a Hibs player or manager.

Not quite accurate about game frequency as 75-76 was the first season with more than two league derbies per season. We'd have had an excellent win ratio for a while after that except that in the following few years Hearts repeatedly hid in division 1. We moved there too for the 80-81 season in order to hunt them down only to find that they'd escaped to the premier. We returned to the premier for the following season only to find that they'd scuttled back into division 1, purely you understand, to avoid derby humiliation.:greengrin
