The Liverpool major says he is considering introducing "knife arches" into night clubs.
Apart from the relatively small initial cost at which club owners may balk, what objections could people have to this idea?

Did they not have them about 20 years ago?
I seem to remember having to go through one to get into the magnificent Mardi Gras nightclub in Dundee in my younger years.
I can't see why anyone would have a problem with it, other than someone planning to take a knife into a nightclub and stab someone.

Glasses have always been used as weapons. They can cause horrific damage, but they don't usually kill.

Used to have them at the arches and a couple other clubs in Glasgow, not really anything new. Probably not a bad idea in some parts of Liverpool.
