Can we expect anything other than hacking, hoofing and time wasting or is that pretty much a given?

Unless they play John Robertson up front then no. Be same old Hearts!

No surprises. They will be every bit as ugly as we expect. They won't sell you a ticket at Hearts unless you look like Quasimodo with a hangover.

I suspect the ball will be getting plenty of ‘air time’ and treated like a ‘hot tattie’ by those from Gorgie way with the fighting and scrapping as the ball drops.

Pace will hurt them and I would play Barker and Boyle wide with Simon Murray through the middle. This will mean Slivka dropping out.

Ha ha ha. They'll be the usual cheating, hoofballing hacking selves trying to ruin an chance of a football game. It's a good illustration of the difference between the clubs.

To be fair fellas what would you expect from a team that plays its home matches at Murrayfield?

Bostonhibby
24-10-2017, 03:31 PM
They are managed by Craig Levein.

He only sets up teams to play one way.

Direct quote from their manager:

"The last few derbies haven't been particularly good. It's been painful to watch at times and you can probably count on one hand the amount of good games there have been, but that's not what it's about - it's about winning.

"Our thoughts are about trying to win the fixture, and that might mean there are a lot of challenges to be won, a lot of second balls to be won, but if we're going to win the match we will need to do that.

So no, I expect the usual from them. Fortunately we'll have players that can get stuck in but can also play a bit as well

My pal was at the game at the weekend. He said the football is pish but effective.

I think they might be better than we think like it or not they should have beaten Aberdeen and did beat St Johnstone so game will be very tight. We need to play like we did in the second half on Saturday with no defensive slip ups. Their have also been playing a 16 year old recently which is pretty commendable to be honest.

They'll play 4-5-1 with either Goncalves or Lafferty playing wide like they did on saturday, they have amakeshift fullbacks and only really Walker as anyone who looks remotely decent, we have to be patient and wary, no mistakes tonight.

So hoof and feed off the knock downs, scraps and 2nd balls.

I expect Levein to put Laugherty up against Lewis this evening and hoof the ball his way at every opportunity!

Yes.

Levein will deploy a Guardiola style 343 from his early Barca days, with Don Cowie deployed in the Xavi role as a pivot, and both full backs will be like Abidal overlapping at will, and joining in the 90 mins attack fest with joie de vivre and élan.

Or they might just try to kick us off the park as usual :dunno:

They can only play one style. They know what they are!

Baader
24-10-2017, 03:46 PM
No they won't do anything different especially with that moron in charge.

The ball is in the air less at Murrayfield when there's an international on than when the Gorgie mob are there.

Can't underestimate them though. Win the midfield battle and we win.

One thing for sure.is that our defence will need to be absolutely up for it and expecting a rough night with lafferty and concalves ...both will try and put it about and to be fair both have a goal in them given enough opportunity and space ! I really do worry about where our goals will come from tonight or even goal !! No trying.to walk it in tonight please Hibs ..ggtth

The club need to ensure that the stewards are on the ball tonight.

Anyone seen leaving the Dunbar end with a seat under their arms should be huckled forthwith

They'll play to their "strengths" - I'm not really worried about what they intend to do - in a derby anything can happen. I'm more worried about our inability to score enough goals to win games, our glaring defensive lapses, our poor decision making in the final third along with the lack of any coherent structure to our "forward line" ... it wouldn't surprise me in the least if we fail to take any points this evening -

Have they any to start nowadays?

Hopefully there's a wee "we only won 5-1" attempt.. that always gets a laugh :greengrin

I might not be worried but you have a valid point about the final 3rd.

As others have alluded let’s not try and walk it in but have a pop at goal from distance and ensure we are in about about the keeper for anything spilt.

Pace for me is essential this evening and if they play their young full backs then it’s important pressure is put on them from the off.

Tonight Hibs let’s take our chances!

Don't think anyone will be surprised by Hearts. They'll be organised and dig in. If we have any off day, they could sneak a 1-0. It's up to us to play to our potential and put them to the sword.

Long diagonal balls to Lafferty and Goncalves putting our full backs under pressure. They’ll then try to get Walker up ASAP to help.

Im intrigued about this game. At the beginning of the season it was looking like Hibs should win this. Its kind of nice to have a Derby for the sake of it. Feels almost low-key...

Cant wait though!

Battling the land of the giants, crash bang wallop hoofball so we will have to man up against them.

Berra, if they're drawing (or by some miracle - winning !) will go down injured and get lengthy treatment from their physio that WON'T show in the ref's ET - their centre-halfs have been doing this since Presley's days !!

Levein's style since his return as a 'manager' has been exactly as everybody expected. He already admitted they'd be playing a 'no-frills' football, and boy has he lived down to his promise.

Entrance fee should have been half price for us as there will be only one football team to watch.

Hi Heid Yin

Hearts anti-football deserves nothing but contempt and no points from any game of football.
Levein is right up there in terms of the most negative-minded managers in the entire history of Scottish football.
Any manager that adopts a line up of 6-4-0 (Scotland game) has no moral right to be in charge of a so-called football club that believes in "entertaining its fans"
This said, the Jambos sole reason for living is to beat Hibs - by fair means or foul.

Craig Levein just said the Derby has never been about football
To right specky and that is solely down to you and the thugs Hearts have put on the pitch over the years.

Question answered.

They offered absolutely nothing creatively tonight. What a thoroughly embarrassing shower of talentless nobodies, assembled by a tactical dinosaur. We are miles ahead of them. :aok:
