I've just been listening to The Lonely Shepherd by Zamfir and the Blade Runner love theme by Vangelis and they're both truly beautiful.

If we were to make a Hibs.net playlist of beautiful tracks, which would you nominate?

PS. Listen to the songs I mentioned when you're ready to be chilled.

I know the lonely shepherd from the Kill Bill film but didn't know the song by name. Beautiful.

I have to go for Hans Zimmer - Time(Inception).

If you're a fan of the Blade Runner soundtrack, might I recommend checking out the game soundtracks for both Deus Ex Human Revolution and Deus Ex Mankind Divided (both composed by Michael McCann).

On that note, the Icarus Theme from DEHR is definitely one I'd nominate.

Would add Street Spirit (Fade Out) and How to Disappear Completely to Radiohead's list as well.

Reminded me of the haunting Vangelis track, ‘To The Unknown Man’, used by BBC for it’s ‘Snooker’ theme tune many moons ago.

OMD - Stanlow - beautiful song about an oil refinery (IIRC).

Clannad - theme from Harry's game

...or going deeper into folkie territory - Norland Wind by Davy Steele/Battlefield Band

Davy (RIP) was a great guy whose voice could make me greet at the best of times, but this song really does it for me.

Solid Air, the whole album is an absolute classic. Also Free album "free" has a a beautiful feel to it. More modern then "This Mortal Coil are worthy of a mention.

That live version you mention is amazing. You can see exactly what the song means to Trent Reznor.

I quite like the Johnny Cash version but I think the video is better than the song alone if that makess sense.

Someone found out that 'Videotape' by Radiohead in reverse is in itself achingly beautiful. It's better backwards than what a lot of bands achieve in their entire careers.

I must have heard it but can't say I know it right now...

He's a few nice smoothe tracks. Bright Baby Blues is my most recent one to get in to.

The Load-out/Sway is a great listen too. I'd say this has gone off on a JB tangent but they're all arguably beautiful numbers :greengrin
