Museum has been evacuated as a precaution. Although I would think it would be a safe place to be inside.

I'm curious as to what the story is if it's not a terrorist incident. Checking his phone? Distracted from the road by something?
It's a horrible situation, and couldn't have happened in a worse place, at a worse time.

Word on the street is that it’s an Uber driver.
Probably absolutely knackered after a 16 hour shift and fell asleep. Cheap taxis though innit.

Poor guy getting pinned to the ground and held by the crowd until the terror cops arrived. Bet he was ****ting himself.

He was obviously injured too as there was a lot of blood on the pavement. Poor sod.

It's certainly a relief that it's not a terrorist attack however still a very horrible situation for those affected.
You can understand why it was treated as a possible terrorist attack at first considering cars mounting pavements and knocking down pedestrians has been the chosen method of several attacks in the past.
Hopefully all those who have been injured make a full and speedy recovery.

Not terrorist attack say police
They are always very quick to come out with garbage like this.
It was reported 1 hour after it happened that it wasnt.
Thats a bloody quick time to gather enough information to state this.
It will be a cover up,as the Government are in enough chaos as it is without another terrorist attck!

Or....it wasn't a terrorist attack.
Perhaps so...but how can you categorically deny it 100% is not a terrorist attack within 1 hour of the event happening?
There is not enough time to rule it out!

The most obvious sign would be if the person driving hasn't said it wasn't terrorism.

Is it not advisable to check the facts before you just believe him?
why not just go in and say, tell us it's a terrorist attack and go to jail for 20 years......or say it wasn't and in a year you can have another go!

I can't see a Prius being the weapon of choice for a terrorist.
the Met said its inquiry was "entirely a road traffic investigation".
"Enquiries have established that this incident is not terrorist related and I'd like to thank those who came to assist the injured," he said.
Is it not advisable to check the facts before you just believe him?

So have you checked any facts before disbelieving the police? Isn’t that equally advisable before spouting off with conspiracy theories mere hours after it happened?
perhaps the driver when arrested simply said “I’m exhausted and fell asleep at the wheel”. That’s at least as likely as your theory.

Maybe there was another vehicle involved that caused him to mount the pavement, maybe he was drunk, maybe his vehicle had a fault, maybe he became ill behind the wheel or maybe he was just a careless driver? Why do you think it's terrorist related? I think I've an inkling to the answer to that last question.

I heard that the driver was the same guy that planted all the government explosives in the World Trade Centers.

All road traffic accidents are now to be assumed to be terrorist attacks, until irrevocable proof of the contrary is produced.
That may sound a bit extreme, but it will save Farage and Hopkins a lot of time currently wasted deleting tweets etc.

Well, your hearts in the right place.
A better expression to use in these circumstances might be "foreign looking".
That keeps your options open.
"Funny looking" is good too.

Weirdly, various folks seem disappointed even, that this wasn't terrorism. Professional ******** and ****-stirrer, Tommy Robinson was on the scene within an hour or so. Fannies on twitter like Katie Hopkins were already proclaiming it as another terror attack.
It's been very enjoyable to see them confounded.

Exactly my thoughts. I'd have thought people would be grateful that it wasn't a deliberate act.

Most sensible people are grateful mate.
The rest go looking for it to be a terrorist act, or just assume it is and spout off their bile about it.

im sure if any ex detectives or police would be able to confirm you cannot with absolutely confirm its not a terrorist attack within 1 hour of it happening....simply not enough time to rule out all different motives/possibilities.
Too many people just believe exactly what media feed them....as they cannot think out the box for themselves.

The police didn't do that though. They said it wasn't being treated as a terrorist attack. All things considered that suggests there was strong and possibly corroborated evidence that there was an alternative explanation.

Give it a rest.
It has been clearly identified as not terrorist related. The police have released the driver pending further investigation. Do you really think that would happen if the driver was a terrorist?

Exactly. Absolute slaver.
I’m confident the majority of car crashes can be ruled out as non-terrorist related within an hour. Even those that have involved non-whites behind the wheel.

Read this, I can imagine you tick many of the boxes regarding the type of person described by the researchers: https://psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2017/10/05/the-psychology-of-conspiracy-theories-why-do-people-believe-them/
We argue that people high in need for uniqueness should be more likely than others to endorse conspiracy beliefs because conspiracy theories represent the possession of unconventional and potentially scarce information. […] Moreover, conspiracy theories rely on narratives that refer to secret knowledge (Mason, 2002) or information, which, by definition, is not accessible to everyone, otherwise it would not be a secret and it would be a well-known fact.
People who believe in conspiracy theories can feel “special,” in a positive sense, because they may feel that they are more informed than others about important social and political events. […]
Our findings can also be connected to recent research demonstrating that individual narcissism, or a grandiose idea of the self, is positively related to belief in conspiracy theories. Interestingly, Cichocka et al. (2016) found that paranoid thought mediates the relationship between individual narcissism and conspiracy beliefs.
The current work suggests, however, that need for uniqueness could be an additional mediator of this relationship. Indeed, previous work has shown that narcissism is positively correlated with need for uniqueness (Emmons, 1984) and here we showed that need for uniqueness is related to conspiracy belief.

I think you do plenty enough "out the box" thinking to cover all of us.

So the driver gets out of the crashed car and says any of:
fell asleep at the wheel
swerved to avoid another car/person
brakes failed
was speeding and lost control
Foot slipped
skidded on poor surface
and you STILL wouldn’t believe them? You would know there must be some kind of ulterior, new world order, machavellian scheme to knock down some pedestrians?
Sometimes the media story is just the actual story.

Did you get a 'Conspiracy Theorist's Catchphrase' book for your birthday or summat?
When you've finished it, you should try 'Voodoo Histories' by David Aaronovitch.

I think you're confusing "out of the box" with "off the planet".
If your worldview's accurate, how come the all-seeing all-knowing all-powerful Thought Police haven't come to take YOU away, O fearless Revealer of Truth?
