Hopefully both scorers from today will play....... unless Strachan is being a fanny.
I have no faith in Strachan to do the right thing

Sjm is a ready made replacement for brown. Cometh the hour, cometh the man.

That McGregor is a cracking player. I'm surprised he hasn't started for Scotland before not. But mcginn???? WOW!!!!!!! PURE CLASS!! can't remember last time he had a shot on target before celtic game but his work in midfield is insane! He's a boss!!

As long as Celtic don't realise it
Or if they do, bring the cheque book for the account with the most money in it

Strachan will no doubt play D Fletcher.

He isn't but must have a chance of a call up with Brown and Armstrong out.

He isn't, was just interviewed on BBC and he says he doesn't think he will get a call up now and can only do his best for Celtc, he was itching to slate Strachan :greengrin

I really hope he doesn't.

Hope he doesn't play. Don't want to run the risk of injury for the more important Hibs games. In fact it's frustrating to have another international break just as Hibs start to build up a head of steam.

MacArthur and Fletcher will play because Strachan is clueless.

Strachan will no doubt play D Fletcher.
I think that would be the right call.
For that role Darren Fletcher knows exactly what he's doing and for this type of game I think he's the correct way to go.
I love Iohn mcginn and I think some of the criticism on here when he has an average game is OTT but for such an important game I think experience is the way to go.

Yep, but they won’t because Strachan will play his wee pals.

I actually thought SJM was pretty poor first half he kept giving the ball away. Second half he was every bit the 5 million pound player the club values him at.

McGinn will be Scott Brown's replacement at Celtic and Scotland for years.
Gonna cost them a lot to get him though. Today's performance will guarantee they're in for him soon.

I'm not saying Celtic aren't interested. We know Rodgers likes him, but why the pimping of our own players to a club we are in competition with? It's a bit perverse and not Hibs class.

Just dealing in reality.
The question is who is going to deal the right price? Celtic aren't in as good a position financially as any Premiership club or even a few Championship ones, never mind European clubs. Was McGinn not looking at the MLS too before he signed for us?
The world is his oyster, if he regularly performs. Not sure Celtic will push boat out enough for Hibs unless he's ready for CL.

Ritchie pulling out will have no bearing on McGinn. Ritchie would have been fighting for one of the three spaces behind the striker. SJM will be vying for one of the two central midfielders.

Strachan will play Morrison or Snodgrass in place of Armstrong - I can't see him pitching McGregor straight in.
Then it's Fletcher, McGinn or Bannan in beside McArthur, who was pretty hopeless in the last two games. Morrison has been asked to sit deeper before, so he could be an option for both positions.
SJM has certainly given himself a great chance of starting in such an important game.

Would obviously like to see McGinn play but I would definitely take Bannan over Fletcher. IMO we will not win this game with Fletcher in midfield. He was never technically gifted but he now lacks the mobility, pace and strength to be effective at international level.

Fraser, McGregor, McGinn, McArthur, Phillips in the midfield for me.
Forrest better be nowhere near the starting 11.

I'm not sure I'd start SJM. He's a great player and he's got potential to be first pick for Scotland in the coming years but right now I think we have better, and certainly more experienced midfielders.
John also needs to show a bit more consistency in bread and butter SPL games IMO to be picked ahead of some of the other guys in the squad.

Which ones who play in McGinn's role have consistently played at a high level for Scotland in recent years?

I can't believe neither McGinn nor McGregor were given a chance tonight, even as subs.
For Pete's sake they were the standouts in the Hibs and Celtc teams in the game of the weekend, both totally outstanding, but he doesn't even give that a thought.
Now, I realise we won last night, but it was the usual struggle against the lesser of the two teams we have still to play, so why not make use of the available quality players?

Not a chance - Fletcher was excellent - his experience was a major factor last night...

They are the better of two teams - they are ranked 19th in the world and was an excellent result....

I thought McGinn may have came on instead of McArthur. His pressing and hard work would've suited what we were trying to do.
We won though so I'm not too concerned.
