See he's fighting Miguel Vazquez at the Royal Highland, this is a good step up for him, he was world champion for a few years and has been in with Canelo, something to look forward to

Really good test for him. Vazquez has been in with guys like Alvarez, Bradley and Prescott.

If Taylor wins this it's a big statement this early in his career.

Jeez, Vazquez is probably top of my "do not watch him fight" list, he's a nightmare to watch, clinches constantly, real ugly fighter. Bit of a step up for Taylor though and one he'll do well to win. Vazquez is probably shot now though IMO.

Great fight for Josh, think he'll do the business.

Does anyone know when the first fight on the undercard is? Can't find it anywhere online.

I'm in the unallocated seats so want to get there sharpish. Doors open at 5 but that seems a bit too early.

Vasquez isn't your typical Mexican stylist. He's a move, ambush and spoil type. He's very tough like your typical Mexican though. He's never been stopped but he doesn't possess one punch power so Taylor doesn't need to worry much in that department. I remember Vasquez was voted one of the worst boxers to watch in some poll I read a few years back. I have however read he's been more aggressive since moving up to light welterweight. The safe bets Taylor on points but I have a feeling Taylor will stop him late.

Also looking forward to watching Lee Mcgegor on the card. Another Edinburgh lad who recently turned pro signing up with Cyclone promotions. He's meant to be a real talent. I think his fights to be shown on Spike tv.

Yeah, was fairly busy. Weigh in today was heaving and Josh looks in absolutely great shape as usual. Can’t wait to see him, Lee and Jason go through their opponents tomorrow night.

Has anybody found out what team Lee McGregor supports yet ?

Easton is a great fighter to watch, he always wants to get stuck in. Discipline might be a problem as he moves up in class, but I like what I see.

That was a superb boxing match, some of these punches from Easton would have knocked some boxers out but fair game to the other guy he took every punch and still wanted more, great stuff.

Absolutely mate. They make them tough in Niddrie, but that Czech guy was tough as nails. Easton has the boxing world at his feet if he works on his game a bit.

What a fight that Jason Easton was. Edinburgh has some great up and coming prospects with Josh Taylor, Jason Easton, Lee McGregor, Lewis Benson, Sean and Lee Spence good times looming for Scottish Boxing.

Can see this going the distance. Vasquez is hard to hit clean and whilst he's past his best he's ring smart.

Taylor done ok in the 1st round but you can see how awkward Vasquez is and he counters quite well as Taylor moves in.

Agreed. He needs to move from the novice to the champion. He’s got the skills to win this at range, against an awkward opponent.

:agree: he's in against a far better fighter than he has fought thus far and needs to adapt his style to reflect that.

Tbf I think that is what this fight is all about; getting him used to having to go longer and fight guys he can't just blow away with his power.

It's one of those fights where I am scoring rounds for Taylor but I'm not sure if it's rose tinted specs or not. Some of the rounds are very close and you can see a judge scoring them either way. In saying that Taylor definitely seems to have upped it in the last couple to be winning rounds far more cleanly.

Body shot was similar to the one that Hatton finished Castillo with. Just behind the ribs. Apparently it can have an effect on an artery and cause the blood pressure to drop making it difficult to get up and get bearings quickly.

Vazquez still looked dazed a good couple of minutes after the ref called a halt and now receiving oxygen.

Edinburgh cooncil will have to build a big indoor arena for this batch of local lads that are coming through the boxing industry, they will draw bigger crowds the better they get, it can also be used for other things but it would be disappointing if these lads end up fighting in Glasgow for the bigger arenas.

When was the last time a open arena was used for a fight in Scotland. Tyson at Hampden?

I think our weather is to unpredictable to host a outdoor fight.

Edinburgh need a indoor arena to attract fights & concerts.

Edinburgh’s shame that we don’t have an arena capable of hosting big sporting events and gigs. Supposed to be a capital city. There’s literally nowhere big enough to host Taylor’s next fight. That could be the last time he fights in Edinburgh unless it’s at ER for a world title next summer.

This is to good a opportunity to turn down we must find a venue.. ER or Edinburgh castle would do nicely.. we have not just Taylor but 2 or 3 exciting prospects on the undercard.. potentially we’ve got one of the best fight nights of the year on our hands.

Great results for all the Scottish boys and well supported throughout.

Transport quite awkward and a bit disappointed with the venue in that you couldn't make out the announcer at all.

When I moved from Cardiff to Edinburgh I was stunned that there wasn't an arena here. The size of the city and surrounding areas easily justifies the need for one. Edinburgh is such a prestigious city that it would have no trouble attracting artists. I find myself constantly in Glasgow going to the hydro I was at Alice Cooper last night, going there Sunday for ICW and was there a few weeks ago for Metallica.. The hydro has had U2, Metallica, Muse, Chilli Peppers etc. All massive bands capable of playing stadiums.

Edinburgh could easily attract the same quality of acts. Easily. Really frustrates me that there's no arena here.
