View Full Version : If you were POTUS how many people would the Secret Service protect?

This isn't a comment on Trump's situation, just an interesting diversion as I'd never realised the extent of the Secret Service's job, although it's obvious now.

Secret Service director says agency running out of money protecting Trump

I have witnessed some very large Secret Service enterages over the years at the Caley. Multiply that by the amount of people they protect and no wonder it's becoming a financial strain.

Maybe little donald should try and make Mexico pay for his security, particularly to guard his family from all the bad hombres.

There's more on this today.

If he's going to continue treating the Secret Service"like servants" and expect them to work for nothing, how long will it be before one or two of them become susceptible to a tap on the shoulder and a dastardly plan?

I really struggle to understand the appeal of Trump to anyone. Beyond his crass vulgarity appealing to a certain demographic as 'normal' what else does he have?

Given the number of 'working' holidays along with the unprecedented rallies he uses as a distracrion it seems you can add lazy to the charge sheet against him.

63 million people knew exactly what he stands for and voted for him. Trump doesn't depress me as much as those 63 million do. On the other hand, Trump voters account for less than 20% of the American population. 66 million voted for Clinton, and almost 200 million didn't vote. I like to think around 80% of Americans are squirming in embarrassment most of the time he opens his mouth.

Even the possibility that they're not, depresses me.

It's the other politicians that should be squirming with embarrassment. This utter maniac has managed to convince enough people to vote for him to become the most powerful man on the planet.
Politics is broken and there will be more Donald Trumps and brexits until it's fixed.

Seems to me that a total of 231 million people are eligible to vote in the USA - roughly 139 million voted, so that leaves 92 million eligible voters who couldn't be bothered to contribute (will they be squirming, I wonder)?

Your figure of 200 million seems to be "somewhat inflated" ... you surely can't be counting the total population taking in everyone: billionaires, bandits and babies?

The 20% you refer to is based on the TP, I guess? Not sure that is really indicitive of anything - Mr T. polled 27% of eligible voters, not really much better TBH ...

The problem stateside runs deeper than Trump alone IMO, his vice president is even crazier than he is, if you ask me and it seems millions ascribe passionately to their politcal agenda -

FWIW, I also doubt anywhere near 80% are squirming embarrassingly as you hope - even counting the babies ... :greengrin

I accept there's a difference between total population and those actually registered to vote, but just like in this country there's a significant minority of disenfranchised mostly poor non voters that its relevant to include in a discussion about how popular the madman is in the country as a whole. Babies billionaires and bandits have rights too:wink:
