Interesting programme last night. "Who do you think you are" featuring Lulu.
Laid bare the religious divide in her family's past.

Got a shock watching it; the historian interviewed by Lulu in Glasgow Green is a good pal of mines dad and is also coincidentally, a big Hibby. I wouldn't be at all surprised if hes a poster on here in fact.

I watched it last night and really enjoyed it.

It can sometimes be a bit dull but some of the real family stories out there are brilliant.

Danny Dyer's was fantastic.

You're probably half right, PB. I thought she struggled at times keeping up her TV accent whenever she had a long conversation with a weegie. She briefly slipped into he mother tongue on odd occasions however, I don't think it was intentional. To me, it was more like her accent-guard slipped momentarily.

I think it comes down to whether there is a good story to tell, whether it illuminates a historical period and whether the celebrity in questionnis genuinly interested in the unalloyed truth.

Brian Blessed was good despite his disgusting beard and persona, Patsy Kensit is was very interesting but Davina McCall was a total tosser.

Will watch this.

Not so sure her accent is intentional, like everything you adapt it subconsciously to your surroundings. Even an old schemie like myseĺf needs a wee while to get back to schemieish after spending years living amongst the Tommies.

That's a possibility. One of my mates has lived in the Midlands for years and when I call him his accents zigzags between Lallands and Midlands though he doesn't realise it.

Similar to me,I have lived in Edinburgh for 25 years, left Liverpool when I was 25. On my regular trips home numerous taxi drivers in Liverpool have told me they have never heard such a mixed up Scottish/Scouse accent as mine.

I remember seeing her. singing with the Lovers on STV's "One Night Stand" in 1964. The series showcased a lot of working bands from all around Scotland. Also seen on the series was the band Dean Ford & The Gaylords later to make it as Marmalade.

Fair enough - I can't remember many of her songs - she used to have a show on the telly back in the sixties and I recall her singing some poor ESC entry called "Boom-Bang-a-Boom" (?) she lost me then to be honest ... particularly as she lost, I think ... :greengrin

It seems to be the people who you think will be terrible and annoying are the ones end up being likeable and vice versa. Dyer came across really well and John hurt, who I've always admired, seemed a bell end.

What was REALLY annoying was when that doughnut Scott Wilson used to blast "Shout" at Tynecastle. No idea how that was some sort of Hearts song but they played it all the time!
