Sounds like he's determined to get himself playing again and hopefully still sticking to his plan to sign for Hibs:

The bit about his international career was a surprise to me because I don't actually recall him playing for Scotland. I actually thought he was English!!

He was saying the other week he hadn't agreed anything with Hibs. I'd rather see Henderson if it's possible.

Where does he play? I don't think he'll be content with sitting on the bench, and I wouldn't have him ahead of any of the midfield from this and last Saturday's games.

Long season ahead. All our midfielders will get plenty game time. He sounds months away from getting fit anyway.

Pretty sure it was Levein who didn't play him for Scotland despite his amazing scoring exploits for Celtic.

If he gets fit again, we'd be mad not to take him back. Sounds like he's passionate about coaching too, so maybe we could sort a role out for him there too.

He is English but his grandmother is/was Scottish.

Are Grant Murray / Eddie May still involved with the 1st team coaching on match days?Haven't noticed this season.

Grant Murray definitely. I didn't realise that Eddie was at any point.

Eddie rejoined the club a few years ago. I wasn't sure if he was still involved but I just checked and it says here he's head of academy coaching:

As you say, long season ahead with injuries always a factor, despite us being well covered in midfield. Could be a timely signing in January and I can't see him signing for any club in Scotland apart from Hibs. For me he would still be a great addition to the squad if fit enough.

Yeah I knew he was the academy head, just didn't think he worked with the first team ever. Leanne was speaking highly of him in her interview recently.

Does anyone know if Joe McBride is still coaching with us?

Eddie May was on the bench a few times towards the end of last season, far side from me, to see if he's been involved this season

McBide left the development coaching role, at the end of season 2015/2016
No idea where he is now

Commons gives us an old head and the ability to put his foot on the ball and look around - a traditional No. 10 in other words. Great asset. Cracking shot too.

Joe McBride is back working with the SFA in the Performance Academy role. Eddie is involved on Match Days.

I expect Commons to sign when he is fit, but he knows he wont get much game time. Anything he does get at this stage will be a bonus for him. He'll also get coaching time which is more important to him now.

Wouldn't offer him a lot of money, he should come in get fit and if he accepts sone sort of pay play deal then great.

But defo see if he can get fit using our facilities for sure.

Serious question - has Hibs (or any other Scottish team for that matter) managed to secure a pay as you play deal with a quality player?

Might be wrong but was Sir George Best not one or maybe even later on - can't recall the exact facts - it should've been that way in the latter period of his time with us (sorry but it in sensible terms it should've been a set up like that)

Yep George best - was said at the time he was paid by then chairman Tom Hart personally

Was Kevin Thomson not on something like that at his last stint? No wages, but got an appearance payment?

Was Chic Charnley not also on that kind of deal?

Might be wrong but I seem to recall some Hibs-supporting benefactor paying Andy Goram's wages which meant he signed a new deal we couldn't otherwise have offered him.

He didn't even get an appearance payment. He got £20pw.

I think that was his second stint, where it was required to have a nominal payment. No idea about the third time around.
