Even in the celebration it looks like he's saying to Whittaker that he touched it but strange noones debated it. Sure he'll not be shy in claiming it if he did anyway.

I thought at the game that Murray got the last touch. Whittaker mentions it in his interview on alba

He got a touch and according to Boyle, Simon Murray is trying to claim it.

Just watched again on freeview and I think Murray was dragging his foot away from it as it passed him. Pretty sure its Whittakers goal, but equally sure Murray will be claiming it :greengrin

I was pretty sure he did and so much so I thought he might have been offside and was half expecting the flag to go up...queue me celebrating 10 seconds after everyone else [emoji23]

Would it still be a goal if Murray hadn't "touched" it?

I think so. Which means its Whitty's goal and I'm delighted that he's scored on his first League game since coming home. Ginge will score a load of goals this season, so let Whittaker have one!!

Well, technically that would make it Murray's goal..

Do you mean would it still have gone in if Murray had not touched it?

I think you're thinking of the own goal rules where if it was going in anyway it doesn't count as an OG.
If it's someone on your team then last touch counts.

If this was in England it would be referred to the dubious goals panel (sounds daft but think of all the money waged on scorecasts etc). My gut feeling is that it was Murray's goal - just.

Does anyone have the highlights to hand? I couldn't find them when I looked.
It looked like Whittaker scored from where I was sitting in the East but Boyle mentioned in his interview that he saw Murray get a touch.

Watching it on alba and after the goal Murray says to Whittaker that he got a touch, Whittaker says no chance :greengrin

Still difficult to tell but it looks a hell of a lot like he takes a touch here https://hibstv.hibernianfc.co.uk/tv/video/vod/4258

Me too and the way he celebrated suggested he did, only Murray knows though, hope he claims it if he did.

I was positive at the game that Murray got a decent connection on it

Wilson
06-08-2017, 11:48 AM
He had a flick at it for sure. Did he connect? It was a goal from the second it left Whitty's boot though so it is Whitty's goal for me.

Think he got a touch. But I think in situations where the ball is heading for the back of the net anyway, it should go to the player who struck the ball originally.

We'll i had Murray to score two or more so if we could let the BBC and bet365 know it's Murray's goal that would be great!!! :greengrin

Looking at the damage Whitty did to big Marv I'd advise Simon to shut it quick. Even if girls do like him.

It looks like he pulled his foot out of the way and he ran to Whittaker to congratulate him.

It's Whittaker's goal.

It's Whittaker's goal.During the celebrations Murray runs to Whitty and says "I got a touch". Definitely Murray's goal but doubt it will be officially changed.

Doesn't look to me like he did but having him at 66/1 to be league's top goalscorer I'd like him given it!
