Was thinking of going down to Selkirk tomorrow, but weather forecast is bad, and there's little or no cover. Shame for Selkirk, if it was a nice day they would get a decent gate

There's a bar with windows looking onto the pitch. 😉

It's a good wee stadium, good playing surface and they've started their pre season very well. I think there is a new trophy at stake (Bobby Johnstone cup) so it looks like it's to be an annual fixture

Yep. They've added a lot of new players for this season. You'll get worse 100/1 ew bets for the lowland league.

Is it a development side we're putting out or will some first team squad members be involved like Hanlon?

Thinking about heading down

Hanlon is playing. And a bunch of those on the fringe of first team. Hibs are taking a strong squad.

Be good if we can get Hanlon an hour and see how he is. Not sure we'll risk much longer if weather and park heavy. Need him back in and around the squad. All fit we have a pretty decent depth around the defense.

Anyone know how old Jamie Gullan is? I saw him play in Northern Ireland for u17s last year and thought he looked a good prospect. I wonder if he's close to getting a call up to the first team squad for the Alloa or Arbroath games or is he still a bit away yet?

Raith away, match abandoned at ht, thunderstorm. Vetra and Dinaburg at home should never have been played due to torrential rain storms. These games were all July were they not?

If that match at Selkirk had been yesterday the conditions were much the same.

A handful of games definitely trumps the cancellations in December or January or February and aren't exceptions to the rule in anyway.

When was the last time we had a game cancelled December January or February because if weather? We had one a thing Morton for rain but can't remember what month and can't remember the one before that. Motherwell when they " forgot to put the heating on"

Edit - Morton last season?

Last one other than that that I remember was Dundee away. Sunday game on tv and it was abandoned.

I wasn't just talking about Hibs though - I was talking Scottish football and there will be hundreds cancelled Dec-Feb.

It's not just about cancelled games. Conditions are simply better in the summer for players and fans alike and we don't have thousands of journeys being made by fans on dangerous roads.

It may have been raining today but the pitch will recover nicely because the grass is still growing. That's not the case in Dec, Jan and Feb.

That's not fair. he along with Paul Hanlon are the only ones that looked above the class of Selkirk. The rest on this showing are not going to make the grade of premiership footballers.
And yes I was there. I also must say the there was lack of vocal content from the coaching staff, perhaps because it was a Sunday and hey we are Hibs, we need only turn up and it's not cool to show emotion or get excited about playing Selkirk. I guess the price of my season ticket only pays for one of these members of many staff a weeks wage. Bottom line we as a full time team and the players that played today on this showing sorry to say but none stood out
and gave me an inclination to think they would cut it at a higher level. God I sound like Michael Stewart, but that's how I saw it.

Yep - i expected much more from Calum Crane also...but he didn't get past the final man once....infact we created very little in the final third. Selkirk bossed the midfield playing a 5 in there. I was really surprised how little i heard from the Hibs coaches, and they were maybe caught out with just how strong Selkirk were. They will do very well this season.
