View Full Version : Hearts £1 bet experiment

I think the bookies rate Hearts as being better than they actually are and to see if I am right I plan to put a £1 bet on them losing on each of their competitve matches this season.

I may well end up out of pocket by the end of the season but I reckon they will lose enough matches at decent odds that at the very worst I will only be a few quid down and it will be worth it for the fun of it.

I am £1 down after the Elgin match but at 28/1 at Coral a cheeky wee East Fife win will cover my stake money for more than half the season.

Will cost u a bigger starting stake but you'd be better off laying them on betfair all season...

This ⬆️ As you will have the draw too.

Use Smarkets and you'll only pay 2% commission rather than 5%

make it a tenner a game and it will pay for our European trip away next season!

Stick a pound on them getting a penalty weekly and come the end of the season you will be a rich man

I think the bookies have it about right. Hearts will be top 6, probably somewhere 4 -6. I think with another couple of additions we will be around there, hopefully nearer 3rd than 6th.

Specs are a bit green tinted but I'd say we are already a better team than them without adding players.

I think you'd be better waiting until the league season starts.

Hearts ladies could probably take care of East Fife.

Peterhead 18-1 for a win tonight.

Thanks Peterhead. 😊

I reckon this tactic will work even better for the Huns. There are more of those morons to bet on their own team so they will be odds on every week apart from when they play Celtic and they are honking.

Thanks, looked at those odds but thought I'd go all out and back their opposition to win. (easy for me to smugly say this now after tonights result).

As above, easy for me to be smug now. I knew I could rely on Cathro. :aok:

Only managed to get 16/1 on Betfair Sportsbook (which was better than what was on offer on the exchange at the time). Still, that's me £14 up so my stake money is covered until November at least.

You know I actually thought that too after I'd started the Hearts one and then decided just to leave it. Might just do it now that I am off to a good start with the Hearts bets. Wish I'd started before the Europa League matches though.

Bet placed with Bet Victor at 7/1 for a Dunfermline win.

Incidentally, Bet365 has Hearts at 14/1 to win the cup and us 25/1 (cheeky wee tenner put on us). Must be because they'll win their group if they win on Saturday. I actually think they'll draw with Dunfermline and will end up 3rd in their group as Peterhead will beat Elgin.

Dunfermline and Falkirk double 12/1 is where my money is going.

Got that one right but never put a bet on it.

Jambos late equaliser cost me £8, still £13 up though. 2/9 at Marathonbet on a Hearts loss tomorrow. Feeling confident of making a 22p profit on that one.

Going for the Rangers one too. 47/10 at Marathonbet on them to lose to Motherwell.

I've took Celtc -2 at 29/20. -4 is tempting at 8/1 :cb

£13.22 up on the Jambos.

£1 on Dunfermline to win v Rangers in 90 minutes at 14/1.

Think Hearts are poor defensively: aging centre back, poor left back and useless keeper, but will score a few. So, planning to bet both teams to score.

Can I ask why you think they'll score a few? They've next to no creativity and no reliable goal scorer.

There are defensively weak teams in the league. Feel Hearts will revert to type - 'industrial football' and a long-ball game. That will yield some goals.
