Swansea knock back Leicester's 40M bid and value him at 50M according to the bbc, opinions? Excellent dead ball taker IMO but would have snatched their hands off for 40M. Chelsea bought Fabregas for 30M for god sake. English football has well and truly lost it, no new news here.

While the money down there is ridiculous, he's the type of player that scores lots from midfield and drives a team forward, he's likely the difference between bottom-mid table and being in the relegation zone. So if a club think's that paying £40m is worth that then fair enough.

Apparently Everton are in for him as well. So Swansea might get their valuation

The money down south is just completely nuts and I cant get my head around it at all. A Swansea player being sold for £50 million... mental.

Doesnt matter if he plays for Swansea, who have been a top flight club for years now, if they are only going to sell him for that and clubs are willing to pay it then he is worth that much.

SJM would have him in his pocket

It's a ridiculous price but in terms of what others are going for there, it's probably about par for the course.

He's a great player, can control the midfield his distribution is great and can score from range and from free kicks. In today's English market he's worth £50m

Can't see it. Didn't do much at Spurs where expectations aren't that great.

You could use this argument for anything but it doesn't make it right.

The money at the top of football is obscene and there is nothing wrong with pointing it out.

It's more a question of what he's worth to Swansea. He's their only real decent player (more so than Llorente) so of course they value him above everyone else and so ask for more.

Comoletely agree. Troy Deeney being quoted at £33m at the start of the window was the final straw for me in terms of paying attention to the English transfer window, there's plenty other bonkers examples on the go as well now I'm sure.

On a wee side note I'm delighted the new sky sports packages allows me to opt out from getting the English premiership but keep the chance to get Scottish football and lower league English footballthat i still quite like, the premiership is nonsense now though. I realise I'm still contributing to the problem however it eases my concscience a little that I won't be paying for the premiership.

He was primarily responsible for them "staying up" so that's worth at least £150m to Swansea.

Scored a couple of belters at Easter Road for the Iceland U21s if memory serves me well.

Wasn't the best goal on that night though

I'd think Chelsea would be interested in him.
