Very highly thought of at Arsenal. His goals to games ratio is still amongst the highest there for guys who played 100 plus games for the Gunners.

Scores with a brave diving header

Is the diving header the one that hits the underside of the bar on its way in? Classic and what a player. Any idea of links for non-Sky subscribers?

You can see Joe Baker here, playing for Forest briefly against Everton in an FA Cup quarter final in 1967.

Joe was very much still at his best and this tackle by Everton's Brian Labone at the seven second mark in the footage, pretty well saw his career spiral downwards through injury afterwards. Forest were challenging for a league and cup double that year with Joe firing on all cylinders but slipped away without their talismanic centre forward in the treatment room and finished runner-up to Man Utd with Best, Law and Charlton.

When with Arsenal , Joe scored 100 goals and he achieved that mark playing in 156 games. I don't remember the exact numbers, but it took Thierry Henry more than 156 games to reach 100 goals.
One season for Hibs he played 37 league and scored 42 goals, in a mid-table team.
How many of the world's greatest strikers have done or are doing that? We had truly one of the games greatest goal scorers us and should be celebrated by all...... against him - he played for England and did not play for either of Old Firm.
God Bless you Joe, my hero.

He also scored 41 goals in 118 games for Forest which was not bad going. The Forest fans couldn't believe their luck when Arsenal sold him to the City Ground club for £65,000.

The papers used to witter on about Kenny Dalgleish scoring 100 goals both here and down south.Sometimes a journalist would say he was the first to do it.In fact of course three Hibs players did it .Joe Baker,Bobby Johnstone and Neil Martin.

I saw Joe playing for Arsenal against Fulham in 1964. Very quick.
He was still a handful when he returned to ER in 71.
