Is Aberdeen's budget, as said by Willie Miller on BBC Radio Scotland today. When he was on the board their weekly budget was £32,000

Not according to their last accounts. It was a lot higher than that.

Not a chance. That's only 2.1 million a year. Their turnover was around 10 million IIRC.

The £42k per week figure has been trotted out a few times by Miller on Sportsound. Must be nonsense.

Here is their accounts.

Staff costs come in at £6.8m. Now I know that is all the staff at the club but I bet the first team make up a fair chunk of it.

McInnes said this a few weeks ago, Miller just repeating what Del said

:agree:

This could be the budget McInnes has to work with - not including youth teams, office staff etc.

It makes sense.

I'd imagine that's the cost of his first team squad and if you look at it, that could get you a squad of 19 on decent money for the SPFL to be honest, then you fill the rest with youth

8 players on £1500 p/w
3 players on £2000 p/w
4 players on £2500 p/w
1 player on £3000 p/w
2 players on £3500 p/w
1 player on £4000 p/w

Why would anyone think this is unreasonable?

Per week for the first team that's quite high really.

That gets you 25 players averaging about £1700 per week.

How much do folk thing players in Scotland earn?

Just had a look at their squad for last season as listed on their club web site. Surprised to see only 18 players listed as "1st Team Squad" which includes a couple of loanees. The rest are listed as "Youth Squad", many of whom I'd consider 1st team squad. That being the case, £42k is probably fair for such a small squad. I was basing my fag packet calculation on a 1st team squad of around 30. Of the 18 listed, there were 11 or 12 I'd expect to be on circa £3k basic.

That will be basic. If it's true. And they will have quite probably a similar bonus pot. Of and is that gross or net of tax and pensions etc.

It's only a third of the quoted staff costs in their accounts.

£600k is 'social security' but that's still a sizeable gap to fill with bonuses, youth and background staff.

Bonuses, club staff, management and coaches, executive directors etc. I'm also no expert on how pensions and other stuff are quoted in accounts.

Either way that weekly figure is more than enough for a pretty well paid first team squad.

I reckon it will be gross of pensions and employer's NI.

Think their staff costs are around £6million, if my memory serves me well. Wonder who the extra £4millon is going too?

£6.8m; £600k going to 'social security' (employers NI?) and £500k going to executive directors.

They have more staff than I'd expect, FTE below:
Players 39
Football management 19
Scouting / Youth development 9
Commercial / Administration 41
Maintenance 11
