Great to see another football fix.

Why though do England have 19 of their 23 man squad over the age of 21?

Some 22 and 23 year old in their also.

Would assume all teams are playing by the same rules? Will depend when the cut off birthday is though dont get why 22 and 23 year olds involved.

Is it not if you're under 21 when the qualification started?

It depends what age they were at a certain date to whether you qualify to play -

To be eligible for the campaign ending in 2017, players need to be born in or after 1994. Many can be actually 23 years old by the time the finals tournament takes place; however, when the qualification process began (2015) all players would have been 21 or under.

You should be under 21 or no play. Keep it simple.

If you're 20 for the semi final, then it's your birthday before the final. Tough, you're too old for the final.

Why call it an Under 21 team if you don't have to be under 21.

Suppose it is simple. If you're not under 21 when the qualifying starts, you can't play. Suppose its to allow the squad that's playing to stay together and develop.

It's the same in all age-groups. If you're 10 on a certain date, you're under-11 for that season, even if you turn 11 the day after.

It's the same rules for everyone, so hardly a fix.

Which is totally fair, for kids.

At 21 I don't think it's so important that they get to play with their pals.

If you set the rules the way you suggest, coaches would plan their teams at the start of the season or competition and probably exclude those whose birthdays fall during that season or competition. That can't be fair either.

Same rules for everyone - in all age group competitions. They are not playing as overage players just reaching the end of the age span.

I don't think he meant it was a fix. I think he meant at least its some football to give us our football fix.

Yeah it might not be fair...but it would mean an under 21s team was under 21. Having a 23 year old in an under 21s team is just weird.

I don't really care either way to be honest, I don't watch under 21s football, or have any real interest in it, outside how my youth teams are doing in Football Manager :greengrin

I know you like tobe a smart ar5e...But where did I say the tournament was a fix?

It was a simple question.

I misread your comment. Easy mistake to make.

However, no need for the smart-ar5e comment.
