The new Tynie entrance isn't very grand is it.

Especially in comparison to our entrance at Easter Road.

Despite this, Budge continues to wax lyrical about the curtain wall. Why is this?

Also, in every picture I've seen of it the black lettering and the black shadow combine to make it look blurred as the typeface they have used is too cramped together to distinguish the individual letters.

A replica and a good effort.

looks like they have started using the toilets already, but, being inbred yams, they hit the wall on the right hand side instead and it dribbled on the floor.

What does it say above the badge on the wall? It's not very clear but the second word looks as if it might have four letters in it so I'm thinking maybe "Hogg"?

It's a struggle to make it out.

Maybe "Kidd"?

I read somewhere on this thread that the letters light up at night so the 'line' is something to do with the electrics required for that to happen. Even if that's the case it looks like something done on the cheap, like when you see those wee strips of boxed-in wiring running along walls rather than have it flush beneath the plaster.

When it’s illuminated, it’ll say “Trunkingcastle Park”.

It's a couple of the tube bulbs you have in your bathroom behind the sign. Very cost effective.

In construction / manufacturer technical speak what they have there would certainly be classed as a curtain wall system. It is a facade that supports nothing but it's own weight (and any loading placed on it from the wind etc) and is connected back to the primary structure.

What it isn't is the lovely architectural Planar glazing system clearly shown in their architectural images.

Interesting. So in other words this type of 'curtain' doesn't actually screen anything? And the overall look is really just office windows, with their current, vaguely streamlined look (give or take a row or four of grey panels and a few white ones under the badge) set to be compromised once they fit out the offices with desks, screens, shelves and assorted office clutter?

Apparently the letters are backlit - probably by LED strips stick to the back.

The 'line' is a rail to which the individual letters are fixed, which in turn is fixed to the vertical aluminium glazing sections. Without this the letters would have to be fixed directly to the glass, which doesn't really work.

Those pictures showing the police box just highlight how farcical this whole project has been from start to finish. Poorly designed, poorly managed, over budget and late.

Out of interest, now that the have this grand plaza/piazza or whatever they're calling it, where are players/staff etc going to park?

I don't want to be premature but it would probably be fake i don't normally like comparisons but the frontage is nothing more than bog ordinary standard office / shopping mall look The badge and name are completely add ons done on the cheap ,further evidence this structure hasn't been well thought out
They can talk it up all they want but in private a lot of them must be wondering how it cost what it did for such a poor return

They have started a dot count and this is confusing them all re final capacity.

To avoid the thorny subject of 20k or less they have made broad assumption that any gap will be down to huge number of premium and hospitality seats, rather than go with an accurate capacity figure.

Oh and by the way they haven’t sold out yet despite the grand opening of the new mega dome.

Brokebackers assure us that the 200 seats that have this blocked view have not been sold. The Police Box will be removed next year.

It begs the question - Why not remove it in the first place when you’re spending millions on the new stand? Why open a brand new stand where you have restricted view seats...pretty sure their mega ‘chips will be sold’ announcement stated there would be no restricted views.

So even if they do cut the police box back, there will still be seats that can’t see one of the goals due to the pink girder.

I’m beginning to think they’ve made a hash of this.

Unless, of course, Budge etc were fully aware that they could not complete the new police box on time, as it will be part of the internal fit out which was never going to be ready on the first, second or any other deadline in 2017.

Even if they do remove the police box the floodlight pylon will still obscure the view from some seats as it goes right through the middle of the box.

Nope its just the terminology used to describe a facade that doesn't support the weight of any of the building elements, unlike a traditional masonry building for example where the external walls support the roof (and will partly transfer the loads from the roof down to the foundations).

Here the primary internal structure (the steelwork) takes all of the load and the curtain wall keeps the rain out and the Yams in!

Maybe so, but why would they even need to if they'd done it right in the first place ? I'm assuming they must have built the new stand around the old control box ?? Any other reason defies logic.

Tin hat on here a wee bit.... Whilst I've looked at various pictures and thought WTF, like toilets, the hilarious police command box fiasco and the general amateur night production of the whole thing.....

The above photo actually makes the rear of the stand look a reasonable addition to the area, it fits with the surrounding buildings (as it should) and looks like it belongs where it is. Maybe it's the night time thing I don't know but from that view it isn't a total disgrace.

Having said that it probably fits in well because Gorgie is a dump anyway, but the architect has made that bit work (most likely made to by the town planning department mind).

What I was thinking. Shows they must have someone dedicated full-time to snub any bad news (fake?) news stories and try and put a positive spin on it.

Looking at the pictures of the outside it reminded me of something I saw recently. It won an award...

Maybe the Yams new office block might be in with a chance for it next year. If it ever gets finished.

Good chance their new stand will win if that’s what won it before 😂

Can’t believe Hearts have called Hibs to moan about the tweet. What a bunch of horrible ********s. Can’t take anyone having a laugh at their horrible tin pot stand.

I wonder if Potter will take umbrage at Laffaminutes latest tweets. By my reckoning he won't, their constant digs at Hibs whenever they sign a player/have a derby coming up/open a bag of crisps/are in earshot of journalist will carry on without comment.

It wasn't Marathon Bet who used the word, they posted a picture without noticing it was offensive, then when they did notice they deleted it and apologised, then a statement was released.

Why have they placed the doormat so far from the front door?

Hideous may be too strong but it is not too much of a stretch for me. Even the different colour of the 2 panels at the bottom of their crest look as if they ran out.

If it wasn't built in the style of a 1970's government office it might be innovative. Alas, the only 'innovation' is having a 1970's office style building as the front of a football club. This might be a first.

Those pics are causing a fair bit of outrage on kickback, with demands for the 'Hibby photographer' to be sacked from his job on site and claims that the angle the pics are taken from make the situation look worse than it is.

My favourite quote so far tho is:

"Priorities are to get the stadium built to standards that mean we can open. 200 restricted view seats is nothing when you consider us being able to get back home."It's a storm in a teacup.

With a hardcore 400,000 fans 0.05 of them will be in excess of 7ft tall. Launch an exclusive innovative premium gold cardigan club ticket for the vertically blessed and the givers will be queueing up.

Hertz fans trying to take the moral high ground via sponsors, a couple of years ago they were taking backhanders from Wonga to keep them afloat. One club in Scotland uniquely has the stigma of not giving cash they collected to the lady Haig Poppy fund and listed it themselves in their very own creditors list.

Moral high ground? Only if they are allowed to distance themselves from it.

Hearts were never NOT going to sell tickets for those seats. They need the money too much. And for a club which was happy to sell season tickets for a stand which didn't exist this comes as no surprise.

Being sponsored by the likes of wonga during the peak of their lending problems and staying with them and saying nothing about it wasn't a mistake, nor was bumping the many social organisations and the odd charity out of funds and using that money deliberately elsewhere, that was deliberate and if there was any remorse or regret I must have missed it.

I'm pretty sure the PBS capacity will be toiling to make 19,000 never mind 20,000.

There is a stadium exiting plan as part of the new stand planning application and it notes their Wheatfield, Roseburn, and Gorgie stands as having capacities of, 5,918 , 3551 , and 3340 respectively.
A total of 12,809.

The deck area of their new stand is made up of seven section of 28 seats and two wing sections with 6 seats in a row. Our East has the same seven sections of 28 seats but our wing sections have 11 seats in them. We have ten seats more per row in our longitudinal stands because our pitch is 6 metres longer than the PBS.

Their new stand will lose seating area for the directors box, dug-out area , press box, stair exits, and bigger seats for the executive bums. 6,200 will be a tight squeeze in that stand, which would be 19009.

Remember the Club has already said there are only just over 5,400 season ticket seats available in the new stand so over 20,000 is a Yam figure pure and simple.

It will be whatever Scott Wilson says it is. So 25k+ no doubt.

I see on the Heart's ticket web site the visitors are only getting one section of the Roseburn stand for the next 4 games and all the other sectons are reserved for their own support.

Maybe they are thinking they can get an occupation certificate for half the new stand and house the rest of the grunts in their away stand.

Hearts have sent out a statement 😳

http://www.heartsfc.co.uk/news/6316

Heart of Midlothian Football Club is* disappointed to see a partner of the game in Scotland attempt to ridicule the club based on misinformation and the use of potentially offensive and inappropriate language.

This is perhaps indicative of yet another trend which sees those who gain so much from the game, attempt to demean it rather than support it.

For the avoidance of doubt, modifications to our existing control room are scheduled to take place as has already been fully explained to our supporters.

Can you be 'demeaning the game' if you -

Lie about being solvent so that a rival club gets relegated when it really should've been your own club ?
Sell shares in your club but then xxxx-off with the money ?
Collect charity-money but then steal/use it for your own purposes ?
Exist for 30+ years on 'Other People's Money' yet call yourself a 'Big Team' and claim that somehow you're 'Famous' ?
Employ players of a standard not normally asssociated with the PBS, use them to attain higher places in league/cup-round but then not pay them for their services ?

Etc, etc ..................

Officially complaining over a wee swear-word that's inadvertently been used on social-media (if that's really what these fan-dans are on about), is petty and trivial and I do think it's a ploy by them to perhaps create a 'Siege-mentality' in advance of some announcement that's coming out soon. Another delay/another cash short-fall/more games at Murrayfield or my personal favourite - confirmation that their capacity IS smaller than ER ?!. I know we find their obsession with 'Size' hilarious but to them it is all-important !. After all the delays, Murrayfield, the over-spend, the criticism their new stand's attracted plus the day they own their club stretching further and further off into the distance - only to discover that 'Tyney IS Tinier' will have a seismic effect at the PBS !

* In the petty and trivial spirit, I'm no grammar-scholar but shouldn't their statement read 'Heart of Midlothian are disappointed .......' - not 'is disappointed' ??

'Basket case of a football club', on the other hand, is unequivocally singular. So "is" is right.

Playing devils advocate for a second I think they’re being quite open about it taking months before the work is completed. I think they’re saying in a couple of weeks they’ll have enough done to allow them to host a game with external catering and I presume portaloos.

This from Budge's statement on 12th April:

2.3 Construction Phase – Part 3 : Fit-out
Having built the structure of the new building, we must, of course, then do the fit-out.

a) All supporter areas, including toilet facilities, concourse catering facilities, turn-stiles, staircases, lifts, escalators, etc… in short, everything needed to allow our supporters to safely attend home games, is scheduled to be completed by the end of August, 2017.
b) The other priority areas required for the end of August are the main entrance hall, the Directors’ Suite, Media Centre and the front Piazza.

OUR PLAN IS TO BE “OPEN FOR BUSINESS” ON 9TH SEPTEMBER 2017.

Given how massively behind schedule they have proved to be on ALL of the above, I wouldn't bet on them even being competent enough to get the 'shell' of the stand plus portaloos open in time for next week.

The place is clearly going to be a building site for months yet, the question is can they get clearance to hold games there without putting lives at risk?

My guess is that they probably shouldn't get the clearance, but rules will be bent to allow it to happen.

If I was a Hearts fan (perish the thought) I'd be a bit wary about my safety taking a seat in that stand this season. Particularly if I had my kids with me. Having said that, it'll probably only be marginally more dangerous than the asbestos ridden, crumbling mess that was there before, so nothing to see here....

No just that, there's a whole side of the stand to be built.

I see their fascination of squares has now been incorporated on the grass.

There's no need to do that.

It's playing up-front for the rest of the season.

Where is the directors box and the like in that stand? It looks to me like they will need to share stairways and vomitories with all the punters as well...yet another concession to desperately try and squeeze in more seats?

All corporate facilities, directors boxes etc.. are all there.

They’re just facing the castle.

I don’t see any bending of rules when it comes to the issuing of safety certificates. Post the Edinburgh Schools scandal and Grenfell Tower, no council is going to take a risk when it comes to public safety.

That will be interesting if this season carries on the way it is. The abuse will not be pleasant in those confined spaces of the vormotries.

Some jokers have suggested that there is a bigger problem than the obstruction to spectating. They suggest that the stand is facing the wrong way, leaving the spectators at the mercy of the mind-numbing football that makes the eyes bleed.

Apparently they've decided that they don't have the cash for a new stand after all, and have moved into the greenhouse at the Botanics. Smart move, if you ask me.

They keep going on about the access tunnel at the Roseburn end of the mega structure being needed foe emergency vehicle access when in fact its hardly high enough for the groundsman's wee ride on lawnmower

If they hadn't made such a song and dance about the biggest bestest glass shower curtain in the universe I'd probably have said "Wow, what an improvement on the old *****hole."

As it is I'm totally underwhelmed.
