Aberdeen are priced 20/1 to win the league? I'd be wanting a lot more than that.

Most other firms, including Hills, have them at 10/1. That's probably the worst bet I've ever seen.

Irrespective of odds, I think that any bet on Hearts to win the League Cup this side of man walking on the moon would be worse.

Good point actually, hadn't though of that. I could have made a fortune laying Hearts to win the League Cup on Betfair over the years.

Hearts last won the League Cup 24 years before Ian Cathro was born :tee hee:

I bet hertz to finish in bottom 6 last season @ 18/1. Very much doubt I will get anything like that next season. Ladbrokes have that market.

Quite hard to rate our chances this season until we see if we actually sign any of the many quality players we're linked with.

A lot of ifs and buts to get through but I'm certainly not as confident as a lot seem to be; based on last season, the fact that we're not certain to lose Cummings and McGinn is about the best transfer news we've got so far.. and they both may still go. Right now, I think top 6 is a realistic aim.

Start to announce Stokes etc.. then I'll start talking big :greengrin

I dont think anyone is seriously expecting us to be challenging for the league but the bookies odds suggest Aberdeen are 10 times more likely to win the title than we are. 200/1 is probably about right for us but Aberdeen at 20/1 should be closer to 80/1.

Ŷou never get ew on the premiership. They normally do betting without Celtic though.

Any idea why that is ? Even just to finish 1st or 2nd ?

I agree - I should have been more clear when I said "our chances". It's the expectancy of us even finishing top 3/4 which I think is incorrect or at least premature :aok:

I remain hopeful though.

Because in the past it was always seen as a two horse race, meaning if you backed both teams each way you couldn't lose. They probably could do it now with second place not certain anymore. If they did start doing each way you would see all the prices shorten right up. I haven't looked properly yet, but if Aberdeen are as short as some are saying then you might find that each way is available with some bookies.

Hearts 80/1... Hibs 150/1 on Sky. Lol.

Celtic 1/10. Last season I had them at 2/7

For serious gamblers that is actually a decent price if you are putting on big money. I would say its more than a 90% chance they will win the league.
