Only one of the 2nd placed teams qualify for Semi. Need Scotland to beat Indonesia, and Wales to draw/lose to Ivory Coast I believe

I watched it and Scotland looked fantastic. In complete control the whole game and should have scored more. A few one on ones missed. Oli Burke looked fantastic, as he should at this level! Really enjoyable watch.

No Hibs representation?

This might be the first time we've beaten Brazil at any age group level? Well done to the laddies!

No Hibs boys involved at all no. Really good sharp quick passing from us though. I'll definitely watch the remaining matches.

He's playing against kids.Doesn't mean he can do it at a higher level. How many ninety minute games has he played this season for Leipzig?I think the answer is zero.

Indonesia went 1 up due to a Scotland defensive mistake in what was their only shot on target.
Scotland equalised after about 30 mins.
7 shots on target but only 1 goal.
Scottish players much stronger than the opposition but not fully taking advantage of the opponents playing out from the back at the moment.
Burke not playing today due to foot injury.

He's played regularly for the second best team in Germany since signing for them and he just turned 20 in April. Unfortunately, the best teams in Europe haven't been tripping over themselves trying to sign other Scottish players but hopefully Tierney and Robertson will get moves to top clubs and play regularly too.

I might be missing something but if Brazil win 2 nil they would be +2 and we would be equal with Czech Republic with same GD and for and against +1. Then would it not go down to them having beaten us. As I said maybe I'm interpreting the rules wrong.

The England team is by and large an under 18 side but there are one or two "older" players. England are currently playing in the under 20 World cup in South Korea (play Italy in the semi finals sometime this week) that is where the "main" lads are.

I'll let you know on saturday night

But on a more serious note, for a moment at least, it is a dilema the game struggles with, very talented youthful players not fulfilling their potential, given limited opportunities because the big clubs want instant success and just buy the talent in. England for instance have two squads at under 20 level successfully competing in prestigious international tournaments at the same time right now, but how many of these talented youngsters will make it as Premier league regulars? Scotland are having a great tournament in France but you have to wonder where these players will end up too.

I notice the Scotland squad has 4 Kilmarnock players in it, they must be doing something right with their set up?

CMurdoch

I think a lot of the guys that get picked for these age teams are not necessarily the best players.
Many are getting in because at the time they are bigger and/or stronger than other players of the same age.
They are picked because their size and strength gives that team an advantage.

I think these are the players that don't get near making it because they are being picked for age teams on non footballing criteria.

I've just read Roy Keanes autobiography and that was exactly what happened to him in his youth. He was extremely talented but as a kid couldnt attract a professional club or get selected for Ireland at schoolboy level because he was considered too small. There must be countless examples similar to this.
