On a Facebook site, scores from season 59-60 for the 1st and wee teams, some remarkable scores

New Years Derby not good !

Not just not good, but a disgrace. Guessing that must be the worst home defeat in a New Year derby since the sickened world war.

Some names on that list. Joe Baker's scoring record was phenomenal.

I count 46 goals for Joe Baker in that season. I only seen Reilly when he was at the end of his career, so it's hard to make a comparison, but I have to say Joe was the greatest goal scorer I've ever seen in a Hibs strip!

Yep,poor Jock Buchanan scored more than 50 goals for the reserves & couldn't get a game because of the great Joe.

When it comes to New Year derby hammerings at home I'm sure there was game around 1973 that put this one in the shade

Hibs and the New Year derby is a strange one in that we have a pretty good record compared to our overall derby record. I'm pretty sure we actually lead the new year head-to-heads and I also recall reading that for more than 20 years from around the early 60s to the mid 80s we were unbeaten at Tynecastle in the new year fixture.
