View Full Version : Looks like trouble

Just posting this for a bit of fun. :greengrin

For me there's been many players that just look like they are or are going to be trouble.

Either by reputation, on/off field behaviour or nothing other than their looks.

I'll start off with our own manager Neil Lennon, absolutely love the guy to bits now but as a player you could tell he was going to be trouble.

So who are your troublesome terrors?

Dave Bowman always seemed determined to kick anything that moved in a Hibs strip especially in his later career at Raith when his legs had gone. Think he was sent off against us at least once playing for them.

Bit of a strange one but Paul Scholes always seemed to me like he'd be a bit of a dick to play against. He loved a bad tackle, seemed to know every bit of 'gamesmanship' going and to top it all was an absolutely phenomenal player who would control a game and punish you.

I'm suprised no-one has mentioned big nose.
Or Jim Goodwin, even the few games he did nothing the refs would blame him for something!

Wee story about Dave Bowman. I was mascot in the semi final against Dundee Utd at Tynecastle and he wouldn't shake my hand when we were in the middle for the coin toss. Sums him up.

Anyone remember Neil Pointon? He had a fight with a goal post at Ibrox and duly got sent off. I'm sure Hearts ended that game with only 7 players.

Fixed that for you.

The absolute worst I ever saw was Richard Gough, who could climb all over players with impunity and also helped referee the games he played in.

He was the "best player I've ever seen. Englands best by a long way" according to my mates dad. Considering he's a saints fan and saw Le Tissier every week, thats strong!

Barry Ferguson - a face that just screamed 'Trouble' when he broke into the Hun's 1st team and confirmed when he made his 1st interview with that nasal, weegie-twang !. Every time I hear hm I still think of the 'Neds' out of 'Chewin the fat/Still game' !!

I remember his first game for Hibs. Up against Dixie Deans. Barry kicked Deans every time he even went near the ball (and a few times when he was nowhwere near it, just for good measure). Got the jail for, I think it was called 'Living off immoral earnings.'

Bowman at age 14, playing rugby one night with 2nd Leith Scouts, saw me, age 12, preparing to tackle him. 2 fingers in my eyes stopped said tackle & slowed me down for a good bit of that rugby game. He had it all early, did mr Bowman!
