Died suddenly aged 52. In the middle of a tour and about to perform in Detroit so it doesn't look like there were any pressing health issues.

Shame, as he had some voice and I used to like a bit of that music back in the day. That's no age.

Really saddened by this today. I was a massive fan of Audioslave when they emerged from the ashes of Rage Against the Machine, particularly when it was clear he was their vocalist. His voice was utterly unique and he was a superb singer/songwriter.

Had the joy of seeing him perform with Audioslave and there had been murmerings lately they were planning a reunion (and indeed recently performed together).

His death is apparently being investigated as a suicide, and social media suggesting he was found with a band around his neck. Such a tragic shame.

Audioslave were a fantastic band, as were Soundgarden, who I was lucky enough to see live. Also saw an acoustic set by Chris Cornell that was a really great gig.

A huge talent and no age at all really.

Went to see Audioslave at T in the Park around 10 years ago, he had some voice. Tragic.

This was such a good opening track to an album.

One of my favourite songs, its what first introduced me to audioslave. Massive loss to the music industry. As others said such a brilliant unique voice. Such a shame

Loved Soundgarden and still think Cornell's bond Theme is the best of the lot too. Very sad news, I'd seen a few interviews with him, 1 in particular stands out a couple of years ago. A highly intelligent, engaging individual, it's so sad to hear that he took his own life. RIP Chris Cornell.
