Good luck to Alex and thanks for your efforts at Hibs. Having played for Hibs, Dundee and QOS he should get a decent club. Hopefully he'll stay clear of injuries next year wherever he ends up.

Really hoped young Alex would turn the corner and fulfil the potential he undoubtedly has. Alas it wasn't to be.
Hope you get signed up to a good club soon Alex. All the very best for the future.

Good luck to him.

One of those 'what if' players. I predict a heated row on here about him in 5 years time. I think I will argue 'For'.

A wee bit sad he never made the grade as he looked like he could have been a very good player. Ruined by Butchers the one that cut him down physically and the other that destroyed his confidence. Hope Alex finds the right club and does well for himself.

Best wishes to him.

That said, moving on is best for both parties. Harris needs to be playing regularly which wasn't going to happen here and we need room in the squad for new signings.

Good luck hope he does well, but Hibs need to be ruthless in moving on players at the moment so that real quality can be added to the squad.

Shame for him but needed to happen for a while. Stanton and Handling to follow.

Good luck to the lad, I'm sure he'll get another club. It's just unfortunate that he wasn't able to make the step up that we needed him to do.

Second that. He did well in his loan spells and looked much physically stronger when back at ER. I agree that he should find a starting place in another team but not yet at Hibs so the time is right to part company.

He has a good background so I'd imagine he'll have plenty career options if football doesn't work out for him.

Sam Stanton is still under contract.Possibly back as pool member if others go

I wish him all the best with whatever he chooses to do in life but I certainly think it's the correct decision.

He's not shown anything in the last 4 years which suggests to me that he deserves a new deal.

Good luck to him, very harsh but correct decision from Hibs. Wouldn't surprise me if he ends up at Dundee Utd.

Good luck to the guy! At 22 he still has the chance of a long career in the game and hopefully he can overcome his confidence issue, if he can I'm sure he will have a long and successful career.

Butcher and Malpas should hang their heads in shame for how they treated that lad. Anyway, best of luck Alex. Hope you kick on.

Sad he didnt recover from the ankle break to enable him to pick up where he left off.

A great talent and i hope he finds a good club where he will show all his potential.

Good luck Alex.x

Right decision, a lot of early promise which he failed to live upto.

Will easily get another club, showed and QOTS what he could do in the championship.

Wonder if United will offer him a short term deal...

Good news, you can be both! And there are lots of them.

Some of them even control the government!

Professional football is a hard road to follow, and hopefully Alex will find another club.

He's past the 'promising youngster' stage now though, so will be competing with other journeymen for a spot in a club.

Raith Rovers a possibility if Yogi survives I would think.

Anyway disregarding my first comment, which was a (poor) joke, I wish all the best for Harris

The injury and Butcher's horrible methods clearly affected him but he was such a promising player before, would be nice to see him succeed

An Edinburgh Academy boy. Edinburgh's second top private school.

I believe he's quite well educated.

If he went to Edinburgh Academy, he was expensively educated, unless he obtained some kind of scholarship or bursary. Whether or not he was well educated, depends on the qualifications he left with.

Good Luck Boozy

I will always think of him as one who had circumstances been different really made something of himself as a footballer with Hibs

Father from ordinary background but made money. I went to big comprehensive - mixed religious and social class school. That was the best education yoy could get.

His injury against Motherwell was the beginning of the end for Alex at Hibs ... it seemed to totally dent his confidence and he never looked the same player when he came back. He certainly has talent though and I would be really surprised if he isn't picked up by a decent club.

Hibs appear to be reviewing the playing staff pretty ruthlessly now, which isn't before time ... we have a few on the books who have been around for years without breaking through even though they appear to be decent players ..... Danny Handling, Sam Stanton and Jordan Forster being the obvious names in the frame, I wouldn't be surprised if they were next out the door .... though Forster may survive the cut of Fontaine leaves.

Eyrie

Forster has year left on his deal, so it would make sense to keep him as the fourth choice CH and send Porteous out on loan for next season to get more playing experience, preferably in the Championship.
