View Full Version : How many STs need sold to bring in Leigh Griffiths?

So we now have the highest season ticket numbers and average crowds outwith the Glasgow gruesome twosome.
We have a team of solid pro's, many of them born & bred Hibees, some others who have taken the club to their heart during their time at ER, and one twenty goal a season striker (imagine JC to partner LG up front), plus improved firepower from the middle in the shape of Hibee Danny Swanson.

Leigh Griffiths has won it all at Celtic now (apart from the Scottish Cup, and he'll be a favourite to do that this month)

I can't speak for him, but I'd say the only thing that would top a Celtic unbeaten treble (for Leigh Griffiths) would be winning a cup with Hibs, closely followed by bursting the Jambos at Tynecastle and Easter Road for the next 5 years solid.

So, a good time for him to come home? Depends where his ambitions lie.

And how many season books would we need to shift to get him? Maybe not as many as people think, given how solid our club, our attendances and finances are right now.

Every ticket going and filled in corners wouldn't come close to the transfer fee.

It ain't happening any time soon and if it does I will cartwheel down Arthur's seat bollock naked.

However many Celtic have sold. 52kish?

He scored 40 goals last season, Celtic wouldn't let him go to another Scottish side even if they wanted to get rid of him. Sadly, it isn't happening.

Stokes is a far more likely possibility.

100% not happening. Would love it, and don't think a move to Hibs would be something he would refuse. But we would be talking about £8-10M I reckon.

We'd probably need about 30,000 season tickets to get close to a fee and wages, in addition to paying everyone else. Maybe not that many, but he ain't coming back for the foreseeable, mate. It ain't happening.

Even if we cobbled together the transfer fee where would the money for his wages come from?
Unless I win the Euromillions it ain't happening.

417 adult season tickets is just over 150k so that should be enough.

the only way we could afford griffiths is if he is out of contract . his transfer value is sure to be in the millions .

Strange thread - absolutely no danger we'll be signing Sparky any time soon. Not a doubt in my mind that we'll see Sparky in a Hibs top again but it wont be for a while yet

There is absolutely no chance we will be signing LG ..... I cant believe this even gets discussed apart from as something to do if you cant be arsed cutting the grass or walking the dog.

Even if Celtic put him up for sale the transfer fee would be a million miles from anything we could afford and his wages would blow our wage structure apart ...... football is a short career and LG has a large family, there is no way he could or would allow sentiment to get in the way of his future financial security ..... £3,000 a week at Hibs or £10,000 a week at an English championship club .... what would you do?

£10M transfer and £20,000 a week for 4 years. Your number is pretty accurate!

I could understand all these posts and rumours in 5 years time but he's at the peak of his career just now (or nearly there) so can't see there being any chance of him signing for Hibs.

Delighted if I'm proved wrong though!

I've heard nothing from my sources to suggest that the rumours of his return aren't 100% accurate.
