View Full Version : (NHC) Should Celtic be interested in Defoe?

There's a high chance that Dembele will be sold in the summer and Celtic would be foolish not to cash in, this is Scottish football after all.

I've heard rumours that Rodgers is interested in Borini next season but now that Sunderland have been relegated I started pondering where Defoe might go? I'm not sure many premiership teams would be interested and I think he would prefer to play at a high level... with the potential of Champions League group football would a move be mutually beneficial for both Celtic and Defoe?

At a long shot maybe we should look at him too 😁

Away and post this on a Celtic messageboard.

Lol... maybe Sunday morning wasn't the time expect sensible conversation 😂

This stemmed from a conversation I had about who hibs should look at if we sell Cummings... I don't think it's realistic to think we would stand a chance with Defoe but thought it would be a decent conversation about signing older players.

Stokes would be a decent replacement for Cummings.

If you wanted to talk about signing older players, try and give it a Hibs angle. The thread on Kenny Miller is an example. He was linked with Hibs.

Celtic are seen by many, myself included, as having a negative influence on Scottish football. I think you are being a bit naive if you think folk on here want to discuss completely unfounded speculation about a
team many people despise.

If I owned the worlds most powerful microscope I still couldn't find my interest in who Celtic might or might not sign ...... now ask me who I think they might let go and that's a conversation worth having :greengrin

Comeon lads you're not getting in the spirit of this wee brother thing.

Hibs - founded 1875.
Celtc - founded 1888.

The only spirit I can find for our "wee brothers" is fratricide (and they started that).

Strangest thread on here for a while. Maybe someone should start a 'Should Hearts sign' thread.

To be fair, I'm quite interested in any signings that our opponents next season make.

Damn! I was just about to start a Forfar Athletic thread regarding their offseason acquisitions.

Who Celtic sign is of no relevance to us considering how far ahead they are of any other side in Scotland. The signings we need to look out for are those made by Sevco, Aberdeen, St Johnstone and possibly Hearts, although that's probably just for the purposes of comedy.

I was thinking the same thing.
I don't get the Celtic love-in from certain Hibs fans at all.

In that case, it might be worth asking the admins to change the thread title to "Should Hibs be interested in Defoe?"

This must be up there with the most unrealistic post in some time.....Defoe , likely to be on circa 60k per week minimum...West Ham bid 4M for him in January....yet we are being asked if Hibs (in a round about way) should perhaps make an offer to him.

Crazy !

LOL. My brother's girlfriend's father's neighbours dog walker said Petrie offered only 2.9k a week and a flat in Drylaw.

Thank you so much for making me laugh after a ***** day. :aok:
