Will Section 33 be allocated to Hibs Fans, or does it count as (even partly) being above the Visiting supporters?
They generally have split Section 28. They certainly did last time so there would be no issues with giving Section 33 to the Hibs support.

There were Hibs fans above Hamilton fans in the playoff game in Section 34, they just shut off the front rows iirc

When the West stand was being re-built there were Hibs fans above away fans. They just kept the first few rows of the top tier empty. I clearly remember sitting above Hearts fans when Mixu ballooned his last minute penalty over the bar to win the Derby.

Away fans used to regularly be housed in the lower tier behind the goal at Ibrox with Rangers fans above them. You were always wary of what might get thrown from above, especially if Hibs were winning.

I recall in 1985/86 we got the whole away end at Ibrox for the Skol Cup semi second leg but not sure if we've had that since. We took a big noisy support through for the 3-0 win in the Scottish Cup around 10 years ago but can't remember if we got both tiers.

We had both tiers for the Ibrox SC 3.0. Made so much noise that Andy Cameron had to cease his on the pitch warm up as you could not hear a word he was saying. The look he gave toward the Hibs end as he wandered off was priceless. Then we took them apart on the pitch. A great day.

Strange that tickets have opened up in the West all very similar to each other in sections 10 11 and 15.

All due to our generosity and the flexibility of the ticket office. My Stone Island clad mob were appalled to learn that the South was open to home fans. A representative wearing a 'Hibs on Tour - These Colours Don't Run' t-shirt went to the ticket office where they helpfully relocated us in the South, thus freeing up our existing seats to those boring types who would prefer to concentrate on the game.

DD in section 11 isn't usually sold except for big games. I think it's because it's a cut through between exits so they leave it empty for convenience.

What is it with Hearts and this sentimental farewell to The Asbestos Stand? When we played our last game with our old main stand I dont remember any big deal being made about it, we played Dundee, said our goodbyes and moved on. I was in the wing stand and took a few photos but have no memory of the whole fan base wallowing in a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Hearts appear to be turning up the nostalga switch to Number 11 in an effort to squeeze more money out of their gullible fans, they are selling tickets for a Last Supper style buffet in The Calor Gas Executive Hut, they are selling the old broken seats and the crumbling bricks as well as the ancient plumbing from the cold water only toilets, theyre probably selling the urine encrusted toilets seats too, Ive heard they're doing half and half scarves for the big day, half asbestos and half shiney pink girder, these desparadoes would sell their sisters if they thought they could make something from it...Weirdos

May I just take a moment to recognise the funniest thing I've read on this thread so far (in my opinion of course!)

The notion of a half & half scarf for a main stand, half asbestos, half shiney pink girder

Haha, made my day, well played...

I remember going to see the demolition of the Main Stand start, set to music, one evening.

We were in the East Stand watching the machinery start to demolish the old stand.

I can't remember anything else.

so according to my logic and math(s)

ground capacity = 20,500

less segregated area say 700 = 19,800

less some hospitality/reserves seats say 300 = 19,500

less unsold at this point - 419 = approx 19,000 attendance

Almost a 20,000 crowd. This'll look great on the Sportscene highlights.

Oh I forgot !

They'll only be showing, instead, the usual diet of empty seats, flags covering seats and 2 and 3 sided stadiums from the Premiership. (at least they've got rid of the ridiculous double decker bus behind the goals at Hamilton).

What's the betting that the asbestos relic at the PBS will get a tearful and ahem "honourable" mention at it's last showing before the famous world class girder replaces it.

I know it's much easier to plan things like this over there, but I've been to an Orlando City game in the MLS and all the events they have on pre and post match are superb. Barbecues, food trucks selling a wide variety of DECENT food, not like a burger van in the UK, more like the stuff you're likely to see at Stockbridge Market etc. Penalty competitions for the kids, lots of different official merchandise getting sold by vendors in the street, slush puppy vans, gazeebos with FIFA on the PS4 etc.

I'm sure Edinburgh Council would make something like that impossible to organise knowing them, but even just like you said a barbecue (no doubt need a permit for something like that ), maybe put up a set of goals with one of they cover things with the holes in them that you have to put the ball through like in Soccer AM, slush puppies, ice cream van etc out the back of the East would be good for a game like this, turn it into a bit of an event for the final day of a league winning season.

It won't happen though, not necessarily because Hibs wouldn't do it, but because it would no doubt just be blocked by red tape for no real good reason.

Have Hibs put anything out yet saying if there will be PATG for any who make a last minute decision to watch the game?

Also Hibs should be encouraging fans to arrive early - bring flags etc and make it a real carnival atmosphere.

After spending a weekend in Cologne a couple of months back my view was this was something Hibs had to try and do, particularly with the closure of BTG. They have a huge section of land between the East and F5 which could be utilised in a similar style to that found at the successful Pitt Market on Pitt Street. In fact surely some sort of collaboration could be done with Pitt Street Market and have it regularly at Easter Road. Get local breweries, such as Pilot who are based in Leith, involved along with bakers, butchers, good quality food producers along with a Hibs merchandise stand and you'd be on to a winner.

Scottish football needs to have a change of approach in this area. The amount of people in and around the stadiums in Germany before games is staggering and a model which should be looked at and encouraged. We need to make it more of an "event", and get people near the ground earlier. The weather in Germany was pretty horrible when I was there but it didn't have any impact on the number of people there - covered areas - by umbrella or gazebo - are all that's required, though some heaters in December may be helpful!

It's behind the ticket pods and I think it's currently used as a car park.

I wouldn't say it's a massive piece of land but could definitely be used for a supporters bar to replace BTG.

He means the corner immediately set back from the corner flag, usually quite a few cars parked up in there during match days though. That said I don't think it is that big an area that would suit a fans zone?
The area behind the West Stand is much bigger and perhaps with the councils permission use the adjacent school ground too?

But getting back on track what's the latest dot count?

A fan zone would be a great idea, I was at the baseball in Toronto and they have a stage set up, just outside tha gates of the stadium, playing live music and had appearances by the squad that were not involved int he game that day. I know the weather is a massive factor in this but having something in the West carpark may be a solution to the lose of BTG.
The area beside the East/North stands will surely be needed for when the corners are filled...

It's not a huge area and by looking at the pictures is roughly the size of 2 penalty boxes. A fans area would be great but there are limitations with the space the club have to work with and the fact that for about 75% of games the weather is not going to be conducive to standing outside.

I would think it's more likely to be converted into a replacement supporters bar for BTG rather than an outside fan space.

It would be nice to have some sort of fan zone around the ground, but I think it would only be viable if we changed to summer football .... even if you covered an area to protect folk from the rain it would still be Baltic most of the time.

The obvious solution is a new supporters bar, but the silence from Easter Road is deafening regarding any plans for that ..... whatever the situation is we have a big space between the FF and the East and it seems a bit strange that until now we haven't come up with an idea to make money from it, its not like space isn't at a premium in Edinburgh it must be worth something to somebody.

Don't think so mate .. what has been the BTG bar is being converted to house all of this, which is why as from next season its shutting. The way things are going there's probably more chance of seeing an ambulance station built in the FF / East corner as there is a new supporters bar

Definitely :agree:

It's behind the ticket pods and I think it's currently used as a car park.

I wouldn't say it's a massive piece of land but could definitely be used for a supporters bar to replace BTG.

Easily.
We had a wee peek at the Brondby zone and while it wasn't too welcoming, it is in a similar space.
Union Berlin wasn't a vast expanse of area either and worked brilliantly

I was at Malaga this season opening game and the fan zone was exceptional, although they do get the climate. Beer stalls, burger stands and a DJ playing brilliant rock n roll, soul and 60s garage.

All tickets in the West, North and East Stands are (currently) sold out:

There are 132 tickets available in the South Upper and 792 not released in the South Upper and Lower.

Sold to date:

Home areas...........................15,902
South Stand............................1,454

Total to date..........................17,356

St Mirren allocation..................1,554

All........................................18,910

That assumes that St Mirren will sell all tickets in Blocks 29,30, 35 and 36.

There are 132 plus 792 still available less allowance (400-500) for segregation.

Interesting that ST holders seats being released for re-sale. If it's 10% of ST holders that can't make it that's say 1100 seats.
So on our new policy of announcing sold seats we could have a crowd of 21,500 (less segregation) tomorrow.

If there is as many as 1000 STs returned and resold that adds approx £20k onto the value of the gate.
10 weeks wages for a decent player so well worth it, club should actively ask for non attenders to do this on these occasions.
My rough calculation is walkup/away sales of approx £200k (10k ST attending and 10k sales @ roughly £20)
That has to be a great bonus to the budget, which can't have been forecast to be as high as we had anyway?
This should mean that there will be money to pay sensible signing on fees for players within our wage budget, would Ambrose for instance take reasonable lump sum and then a wage comparable to top earners at the club? This would mean wages coming out of trading income and not exposing ourselves if there is a gradual downturn and we could speculate on Stephen Mallan or similar as well
