Should Christie have played yesterday?

Saw this on Twitter so thought I'd check for myself. Rule 14 of the Scottish Cup states a player can't have been named on the bench for another team and then play in the cup? Christie was in the bench for Celtics game V Albion Rovers. A stupid rule if you ask me, but it would appear to be the rules?

Think the rule was changed a couple of years ago that it has to be a 'fielded' substitute. Just the SFA too lazy to update their own rules.
