These boys fight. Lennon got it wrong, fixed it, put a leader on up front, and they're terrified of Holt.
Spot on. Grant Holt brings so much to the team, and he loves the big games. Very good end to the half, and glad Lennon made the correct call when he did. Bartley now playing well too.

Would you bring Shinnie on for Dylan at the start of the second half, not saying Dylan has had a bad game but Bartley is crucial to the team 90% of the time.

Well done to Neil for changing the team so early and good on Martin for really taking it to them for the first time. Big half time team talk to be had, we need to be a lot better on the ball and exploit the space on the flanks, the middle is a no go zone for us at the moment. We can do this, GGTTH.

In hindsight, yes, better to have Shinnie on to try and cause problems, rather than Fyvie and Bartley. Obviously wanted to keep it tight and hit them them late on. Not his fault about the two goals, first caught cold, second a bad error from Rocky, which reminded me of Clown v Huns at ER.

Agree but something had to be changed and someone had to come off, like I said we gave the sheep there two goals, they have not really hurt us with any chances apart from them mistakes.

Fyvie taking one for the manager. Lennon has made some great team selections in the big games but today he picked a team that didn't look like it would work. Fyvie and Bartley, never worked and Boyle and Cummings never worked. Well done for the change and let's get into them in the second half

Several key players seriously underperforming today - first 35 minutes we looked very poor, Holt has given us a boost, and we are back in the game - it's certainly not over by any means - Lennon needs to come up with something for the 2nd half though - Aberdeen the better team overall and they seemed to have a game plan, unlike Lennon - should be an interesting second half ....

I would have hooked Bartley after his start to be honest but the yellow card could have swung it.
Excellent impact from Holt and from where we were I'll take 2-1 at halftime.
Side note: John Beaton is a muppet, should have let that attack finish before the whistle
Bartley has been best player for us by a mile!

To be fair the minute had been played.
3 goals scored, 30 seconds for each celebration. Fyvie booking, Fyvie substitution should have added another 30 seconds at least.
If Hibs were up 2.1 there would have been 2 minutes extra time and Beaton would have played 3 and a 1/2 minutes.

We was never favourites for this game, aberdeen are 2nd in the prem for a reason, I think we have gave a good showing since lennon changed things, we really need wide left footed player of lennon wants to go 4-4-2 next season or maybe crane will play there.

Huge 45 minutes coming up. The Hibs team of the last 15 minutes have a great chance of hauling this game back. Aberdeen very dangerous on the counter though and we can't afford to lose another goal.
Give it 15 minutes and then if we haven't scored get Shinnie on.

The formation doesn't cause us to lose a goal so early. Players have taken an age to come up to the speed of the game. If lennon had started with Holt then there would have been a lot of moans. Still in it which is a blessing.

Yep. You can't give teams like that a 2 goal start.
Great character from the players but we left purselves a big ask. The mistakes we get away with it at Championship level where ruthlessly punished today. Plenty to take away from that and hopefully a chance to both assess where we need to be and how close we are if we cut out the silly errors.

Showed a lot of character to come back from that start. We got it wrong tactics wise in the first third of the game, changed it and won the s cond third hands down, the last third we seemed to run out of ideas a bit and was pretty even. Didn't get much luck today either but still proud of that team this year..we've continued the momentum from the Cup win last season with promotion. And put up a decent fight of the SC.
On the day two or three of our most important players for various reasons didn't perform to the peak of their abilities.

Sometimes in life freak luck happens. Aberdeen played well today. So did we (second half). We walk away with the championship title and looking forward to top league status. For once there is not the feeling of "when will we win it, when will it be our day" we went head to head with one of Scotland's best teams. We were just unlucky in all honesty. So they will play Celtic, a team unbeaten all season and probably lose. There will be other trips to hampden. The feel good factor isn't gone, it's only just starting for next season. I'll be there to back the boys. Our fans were in good voice today, they'll be there. GGTTH :flag:

from what I'm taking from here, Lennon is correct. We worked for and created our good goals. We virtually gifted them all 3 goals. First 30mins were a disgrace to be honest. Not seen players perform so badly under slight pressure through closing down. No idea why every single player lacked composure first 30mins.
John McGinn you have to play better if you want to stay an internationalist. Fyvie and he were the worst players today for me. McGinns fault all day for first goal, trying to beat 5 men was just stupid. Bartley was shocking first 30mins, didn't even get close to a man. Looked very of the pace.
Proud of the comeback but should never have been necessary. Marciano at their free kick...who didn't see that coming? That post was well exposed the entire time.

I think most of us who are positive after that performance are looking at the bigger picture of the last couple of seasons. This group of players have given us some fantastic days and nights. Surely the definition of supporter is that we can recognise when they've made an effort to get back into a game they looked dead and buried in. The mistakes are frustrating, no doubt, but overall the past two seasons these players and management have given us the pride in our club back.

:agree: Mistakes were poor, but it is the reaction that was excellent. 2-0 down against a good side and we battled back to 2-2 only to lose to a lucky goal. Of course it's frustrating we started badly, but there are a lot of positives to take from today.

Bottom line is the Lennon has used his interview to see if the club's ambition matches his.
He envisages a Hibs where losing is not only a rarity but that certainly doesn't happen in big games.
There still some of us in the stands and maybe some in the dressing room prepared to go with the plucky loser tag.
On the other hand, it bugs me that he never criticised his own signings and Shinnie offered 0 for us when he came on at a time when we should have been playing the game on the edge of their box.
Lennon isn't happy either. Is he a knob as well?
The difference is that Lennon is not consistently negative, unlike Swedish Hibbie who is a glass completely empty type of guy every time he comes on here.

Of course but Marciano was also at fault for not maintaining a better position, he steps out before Christie even hits it. I'm not singling just him, wall was poor and first 30mins was embarrassing.
fans go on about these players restoring pride in the club and they have, they've had the credit and adulation for that. Forget that, first 30mins in a cup semi final was embarrassing and a disgrace.
aberdeen were no better than us and if anything were worse but we've given them 2 goals and to be honest, McGinn or Bartley should have taken Hayes down for the 3rd if they were that tired, how he waltzed through both of them and got space to take that shot was very poor.

But the major error was his. He set us out with an unfamiliar team and formation, and it showed. Familiarity brings confidence, and the players weren't till Holt came on

Forget all the debating and the pros and cons from today.
one thing is for certain, club need to strengthen throughout, defence could use bolstered, midfield needs some serious work in my eyes as we have no left midfielder but play 442 and that's McGeouch done again (think he is finished, 5 games then injured is no good)...upfront we need 2 proven goal scorers on top of Jason.
i was slightly disappointed that all players got offered new contracts as some unfortunately aren't good enough. Hopefully this is so we can save money for 4-5 very strong signings but I have a feeling it won't...

I thought we were really good for an hour, Fyvie going off for Holt turned the game on its head. Thought there was only one winner when McGeouch equalised. That first half hour was one the worst 30 mins I think we've witnessed since the Butcher days and Aberdeens first goal really was unforgivably awful from us, mistake after mistake - very sloppy and not what I expect from reliable guys like McGinn and McGregor. Gave ourselves too big a mountain to climb.

Quote from Neil Lennon after the match:
"You can't concede a goal (Christie's free kick) from that angle. Aberdeen haven't worked to score three goals. The first two goals are unforgiveable. They've got loads of character but they shouldn't have to fight back in the first place.
They'll go away with loads of regret. They were as good as Aberdeen if not better."
I agree Neil.
