View Full Version : Let's sell out the Hibs end

Now that promotion has been taken care of, let's sell our remaining tickets for Hampden.
This team deserves to run out to a full Hibs end.
What a finish to the season it would be to reach another final.

Fact we're realistically suggesting Hibs could take 21k plus to a Hampden semifinal is quite astonishing. Not sure if that's ever been done in my lifetime ?? Rare time to be a Hibs fan.

Im sure we had over 20k for the semi-final v Dunfermline (0-0) in 2007. Total attendance was 25,339 and from memory the Pars had under 5000 there.

also 2001 semi against Livingston had a total attendance of just under 25000 and again from memory Livi had 3 or 4000 fans at the game.

Oh and in 2005 the attendance for the Hibs v Dundee Utd semi was 27271 and I'm certain Utd had just over 5000 at that one.

They deserve Saturday just as much as the fans. Hopefully they go out, enjoy it and express themselves and I'm sure the fans will be loud and back them to the hilt.

I remember the Celtic Scottish cup final a few years ago when the fans sang throughout and were amazing till after the final whistle.

Going to be a great game and atmosphere.

Are they any better than last year when we pumped them in the League Cup?
Are we any worse? Think it will be close. They still have 2nd place to fight for, although 3 points against the Yams are pretty much a gimme

Like many of you have already said. Regardless of what the score is come the full time whistle on Saturday these lads deserve to be thanked for everything they've given us in the Scottish Cup these last two seasons. They'll all be gutted as much as any of us should Aberdeen beat us and, but they'll be as equally as excited at the opportunity to do it all over again should we win.

Strange feeling leading up to this semi. The monkey is off our back and there is no pressure on us whatsoever. I usually feel overly tense about semi finals but completely different since we won it. If we lose its been a great defence and we'll move on. I have a feeling we'll get to the final though.

Its a nice feeling not feeling anxious about next week...we have defended this cup admirably and we are about to play a team who are absolutely flying in the division above us. If we win, will be absolute scenes. If we lose, we take the prize money and hold our heads up high for taking our cup back to Hampden at least. We were all there for the greatest game in our history, so will never be topped which I find comforting!

This 100%. The absolute only aim of this season was to get out this league, we've achieved that with games to spare, anything else this season is bonus territory. I'm glad we wrapped up the league before Hampden, now there is no pressure, we can relax and focus soley on giving the SC another crack without worry about the league. Unless they are hiding 2,000 plus tickets, there must have been way more than 17,000 tickets sold.

That's correct. They got a 50/50 split but had a good few thousand unsold tickets in the south/west sections. I was there and the atmosphere from the Sheep was awful. I think they knew they were going to get humped....lambs to the slaughter even

They are flying in the league so have no excuse not to sell more. I know some were very angry with the league cup performance against Celtic as they were so poor.

Pretty poor as it would have been great having a pretty full Hibs and Aberdeen end.

I feel for them with slightly with the KO time but waking up a little earlier isn't the best excuse. Hibs have fans travelling from all the UK also.

Anyway most important thing is the fans sing their hearts out (small pun) and we celebrate our cup run last year and this year and league win!

The 1215 KO is joke to be fair. Most Aberdeen buses are leaving around 7am, as is my car load. My step son's bus leaves at 6.30am. Having made the journey for big Scotland games and this year's League Cup final, it takes over 4 hours when there's a big Aberdeen support. The congestion at Dundee & Perth is horrendous.

As much as its fun to ridicule the crap home support Aberdeen seem to have I think them taking around 12,000 is actually quite decent.

Yes they do have some fans who live in the central belt but the vast majority will be travelling from Aberdeen and the surrounding areas. If the roles were reversed and we were having to make a 300 mile round trip and leave at 7am we would do well to take the same numbers I think.

It's not a good KO time at all for the dons.

I'll enjoy our numerical advantage though!

The SFA are true idiots.

Why can't the game be in one of the later TV slots.

Or better yet just forget about the tv. I think it's only on BBC anyway?

They can't even get a train that would get them there in time.

What a farce. They would have brought a significant amount more if it wasn't so early I'd reckon

CallumLaidlaw

Agree with that. Not sure we had much more than that v United last season.

We had that because we were in terrible form, and our average attendance in general was around 9.5k. We were all down in the dumps about how the play offs were the best we could manage (and we know how much we hated them) and a lot of people could not be bothered with a trip to hampden after the last minute gutter against Ross County. Aberdeen on the other hand are in great form, are the 2nd best team in the country and are capable of scoring lots of goals. Their average home crowd is pretty poor when you take this into consideration, and they're not really bringing much more than that average home crowd to Hampden. We on the other hand are averaging 15k home fans and are set to bring another 33% of that crowd to the semi.

I'd get up at 3am to see Hibs at Hampden. I'll be leaving the house at 7am so I can be on an Edinburgh supporters bus, but I get that the casual/day out fan won't be as keen.

Just stupid.

A 5.30 Semi would have been superb!

I just looked and theres a few trains depending on how early they want to leave, with one as early as 5.26, but there is a 7.40 which gets into mount florida at 11.01, and there's even a 8.42 which gets into Queen street at 11.17, leaving an hour to get to Hampden.

They have much further to travel and lost the League cup final comfortably this season so not that much different to us last season. They are probably doing pretty well to get 12k given the circumstances.

Aye but have yo seen the price of the tickets? I looked as soon as the game was confirmed and it was something like £60.

The North and South Stand allocations are gone bar one seat in D5 unless they find a few more tickets from somewhere.

There are 27 seats showing in Block F and 343 in Block G.

That leaves 371 tickets on the planner plus a potential 600 seats not yet released in G6-G8.

That suggests 976 seats left from the original allocation or at least what we know about!

BBC AND Sky on Saturday. The tv money is worth around £80k to each team I think so not for us to sniff at.

If the game was at 5.30pm, would they not have the same issues with trains in the evening?

The first thing that crossed my mind is that if I had to get down and up the road from/to Aberdeen I would prefer an earlier kick off so I could get home at a reasonable time. 3pm kick-off, possible ET and penalties? Then get out of Hampden/Glasgow with thousands of other fans. We need to leave them a reasonable amount of time to get home to the pubs and drown their sorrows.
