I always thought that the kick off was indirect.

I think there was a rule that the first kick had to be back the way but that was changed.

After a wee google, A goal can be scored direct from the KO, however, all players must be in their own half, they had 2 players in the other half, so the goal should't have stood. :wink:

Was the rule not that it had to go forward? Probably not the first time this has happened in that case

I think there was a rule that the first kick had to be back the way but that was changed.

Ball had to go forward but they changed that and now it can go either way. You can also shoot direct from kick off without anyone else touching it and you were also able to do it before the rule change in the summer.

Yes, the ball definitely had to go forward previously.

I knew they could kick it straight back now, but scoring direct is new to me.
