From my point of view, apart from an obvious desire to see as many Hibs fans as possible at any game, its also about indicators for the health of our game. Any interest I have in Aberdeen ticket sales is through a desire to see Hampden as full as possible for such a big game. I see Aberdeen's ticket sales so far as a cause for disappointment rather than a reason to ridicule them.
I do have sympathy for them over the issue of the kick off time, but as has been pointed out many times fans in other countries, England being the obvious comparison, have far further to travel than Aberdeen to Glasgow, so from that point of view I think they have the right to moan about the kick off time, but its a pretty poor excuse not to turn up and support your team in an important game.
The mood on their fans forum as I said seems to be that even if the reach the final it will be against Celtic, a team they have no chance of beating 'so what's the point' .............. as a Hibs fan who has attended every Hibs game at Hampden since the SC semi final in 1979 bar two that's an outlook I have absolutely no sympathy for ..... if I had taken that attitude my trips to Hampden would have been few and far between and most Hibbies could say the same no doubt. This semi final is the same, form wise Aberdeen are the toughest draw we could have got outside of Celtic and we will be pushed to beat them ..... that's never a reason to go 'what's the point of going then'
Aberdeen fans need to get over their overblown sense of entitlement ... just coz of the 80s they think they have a divine right to success and if that's not guaranteed they don't want to know it would seem.
Can't agree with that at all. I don't like them - but can't deny that Aberdeen have always turned out in their numbers to my memory. Certainly no worse than anyone else in terms of fans that can't be bothered...

Aberdeen claiming they've now sold over 11,500 now. Crowd looking like it's now going to be over 30,000. Add this to the 52,000 or so on the Sunday, and Hibs will be getting a tidy share of an 82,000 plus, gate receipts
On course for around £200,000

In recent times the size of their turn outs have mirrored their optimism about the result .... a huge turn out for the League cup final against ICT a few years ago that was close to 40,000 and yet 3 years later they couldn't sell 23,000 tickets for a league cup final against Celtic. The fact that some of their fans will be put off by the outside possibility of trouble because of the opposition doesn't wash either, we sold out against both Hearts and Sevco.
The fact that they clearly have the numbers to draw from makes it all the more obvious that for them reaching the final isn't enough, they have to be super optimistic about winning it ..... contrast that with Hibs ... how many times have we gone into a final fearing the worst but we never fail to sell all our tickets, no matter who the opposition is.

Fair response mate - I wasn't aware of those numbers, quite surprising really!
I would argue that any of our clubs have lots of "final" fans though. I.e. your proper, core of the club, every week fans will turn out for Hibs/Aberdeen regardless of optimism levels.. and in my experience, this very much applies to Aberdeen for away games.
Still take your point though - fans are fans, and maybe our cup final fans are more loyal than theirs :agree:

At no point was I arguing who was the bigger club. I was suggesting it was a silly argument to make considering there'll be times Aberdeen's is bigger and times Hibs is bigger. Your response appears to be to argue who has the bigger support, missing the point entirely 🙈
You started your sentence with "If you want to compare supports..."

I hadn't realised this.
Every team will sell a few more tickets when the chance of success is greater. However to only sell half (not sure exactly how many they did sell for the Celtic game) due to being the underdogs, is pretty indefensible.

The reason we didn't sell out for the League Cup final had a lot to do with how Aberdeen allocated the tickets.
At first, they restricted all the supporters club orders. Every club received far less than they asked for. Then you could only buy one ticket per account and you had to have loads of loyalty points to do this. This was all because the club expected another rush of 43,000 fans.
What this led to was fans who wanted to go with friends or take their kids being unable to, and therefore buying tickets without them, because they thought if they waited for general sale they'd all be gone.
By the time it got to the low loyalty points, there were fans wanting to buy tickets but couldn't because they didn't have an account due to their friends always being the ones who bought the tickets, and their friends had now already got theirs and couldn't buy more. A case in point was my mate - wanted to take his two kids, applied through a supporters club, was offered just one ticket so took it. Week of the final he wanted to sell his ticket and buy 3 for him and kids but club wouldn't let him because his name was already registered to a ticket.
It was a total shambles. They're trying to fix it this time by demanding every fan who buys for the semi registers an account.

Loyalty Points You have opened up a can of worms there
But interesting points made about how Clubs still don't sometimes get it right when it comes to what fans would want to happen and sounds like they did themselves out of revenue

We've found the one club that beats us on shambolic ticketing. I don't see why we don't just follow the same system as Hearts do, the one part of how that club is run that I'd want us to copy.

To be fair to the Dons fan, we mucked up sales for THAT semi v the jambos and ot hugely affected our sales.
Also, there is no doubt more of the day trippers come oit when the chance of success is greater. Our suppprt does that too.

Corporate hospitality, player and staff tickets possibly? I know that won't make up all the 1825 as per above but might be why there seems to be a misnomer.

That wasn't the only reason with us, also. The fact we had just sold GoC, had a number of first teamers out for that Semi, and had taken a few doings from Hearts that season all played into the fact that there was a very large gap in our end.

Points for a season ticket, then points for away matches but on a scale of popularity. So for example an away trip to Easter Road for them would be worth 1 point, whereas away to ICT in midweek might be 5. I believe it's to stop the 'rich get richer' issue with tickets for the most popular away matches. They've had the scheme in place for a number of years now so points give a greater reflection of who has been to the most matches over the last few years.

I just don't get this ... our initial allocation of 21,000 obviously didn't include the south upper, so that 21,000 is lower decks only. If the seating plan on the official site is accurate all our sections in the north and south are sold out and no way is there room for 4,500 in the sections left in the east stand ..... so what's causing the discrepancy? :dunno:

This is why I hate Hampden and the half arsed system they have for selling tickets. Prime seats in the South Stand are now available. Those leaving it to the last minute usually get the best choice of seats.
Why the hell are they releasing a few rows here and a few rows there?
Annoying.

If it does happen take them back. I did it for the final last year. Bought 3 tickets and etickets said the north was sold out. I was raging cause I have a season ticket and logged on straight away to specifically buy them in the North, therefore got tickets in the east. I called up to ask if there was any in the north, the girl on the phone was very nice and helpful, told me that they were keeping seats back in the north for some reason, but she swapped them for me. Great seats as well, I was in D1

I recall the semi-final replay against Dunfermline. I applied as soon as I was eligible for South Stand tickets and the best I could get was out wide acually behind the goals.
There were little over 8,000 there! I just moved into the middle to sit in one of the thousands of prime unoccupied seats for the match.
For the Livingston League Cup Final I had been away and by the time I was back, the first two allocations had been sold. I got three in the third allocation, Silver Debenture tickets in the South Upper.
I don't know if it is the SFA or Hibs who are responsible for this type pf fiasco (I suspect the former) but it really annoys me.
There are so few good seats at Hampden unless you are prepared to stand throughout, so why must they withhold the best ones?

I don't know who is responsible for how tickets are being sold, but it seems absolutely barmy. The whole point of Hibs having priority sales is to allow ST holders first dibs on the best seats ...... how many folk who settled for seats in areas they didn't want are going to be annoyed when they see good seats that were shown as sold now reappearing on the seating plan?
Whatever the case we certainly appear to have sold a huge amount of tickets .... but that being said, this nonsense of seats suddenly appearing in areas that were previously shown as sold out is playing havoc with the bloody dot count :grr:

I know the rest of us are only part timers who probably don't deserve to go to Hampden but you don't have to keep reminding us how unworthy we all are compared to yourself.

You said that Hibs would not get more than 21,000. It is patently obvious to anyone but a idiot that Hibs could get up to 24,000 if there was demand.
Your attempts to wind people up are getting more pathetic over time.
Its not a wind, we got 20,000 for the last final. If the situation arose where more people went to the semi than there is tickets available for the final then there'd be a meltdown.

Its nothing to do with part timers etc, I'm merely pointing out that we could have a situation where more people get tickets for a semi than there are available for a final as you know we would not get 24k tickets fir the final.

Why would it matter?
These extra tickets would be going to non season ticket holders who haven't purchased semi tickets already so I doubt they can lay much claim to a final ticket.

Likewise, I telephoned the ticket office this morning and they confirmed the tickets were not with them and should be in the post. Very helpful and friendly service.
However, £6.50 for 'special' delivery (the only option) and then a 7 pence per minute follow up phone call does grate a bit.
i got the option a couple of hours ago for picking up at the club

Fair enough and its not the end of the world but that 6.50 is probably 3 pints worth in Alfredo's next Saturday morning :greengrin

So if for what ever reason someone have not had the chance to get a ticket if it sells out in the lower tiers, you would rather have HIBS fans watch on TV and leave the seats empty as you're not given first option to sit in them?

If space is available its mental sections not opened. Uber fans have seats secured and will want as many hibs fans at game as poss nobody missing out when seats available to fill. Hope u get a seat my man.
So you would rather 21,000 Hibs fans there rather than 24,000?

That's not what's going to happen though. The vast, vast majority of the people who will rush to the South upper will be people who will try and hand their tickets back that they bought for other stands. Theres no way there'll be an extra 3000 through the gate even if we do fill our initial allocation (which we haven't, as seats and rows are popping up all the time and there are front rows empty).
Unless you're stranded in Madagascar or somewhere without Internet access, you've probably purchased your ticket already.
There's also the principle. Next time, the best seats in the house need to be made available to the most loyal on the opening day so why not open up sections of the upper on the opening day along with South lower?
I would have no problem with them opening it up if we had sold every single seat in the lower part of the stadium but we certainly haven't.
Those screaming for it to be are a bunch of chancers IMO ;-)
It's a bit off for some but it wouldn't make sense to lock people out.
I'm playing devils advocate to an extent as I like right behind the goals and I've managed to get my ideal tickets fairly easily without any nonsense.
If space is available its mental sections not opened. Uber fans have seats secured and will want as many hibs fans at game as poss nobody missing out when seats available to fill. Hope u get a seat my man.

Last season i hardly made any games at all, just the important ones, the big games, the juicy games we all wanted to see.
I quite enjoy it that it annoys the hell out of a few folk.
I have not missed 1 game ANYWHERE where its been a sell out that i have wanted to attend, and thats even during seasons where i have not had a season ticket or even an away one. :giruy2:
In fact the attitude of some folk has probably made me that stubborn and i have not gone to some games where i was going to go just because of some of their comments. :greengrin
Yet the funny thing is in all this, i have read over the years how people love the big crowds turning up at Hampden to sing SOL when we've won, and if it was not for the johnny come latelys, it would just have been the ubers all sitting there in the corner like Falkirk fans.:na na:

I agree. Pathetic. Surely a wind up that anyone would want thousands of fellow hibbies locked out just because they didn't get 'first dibs' on the best seats.
Obviously ST holders should get the best choice at start, but as the SFA make an arsen of this like most things, we can only get on with the job in hand of filling as much of Hampden as possible.
2 questions to any of the precious ones out there. If we sold an extra 3000 tickets would we:
1) Earn more money for they club?
2) Have a louder backing/physiological boost which could give us an edge (all be it how small) in our effort to win the match?

You have to love a discussion involving football tickets on the internet. It's the same on the TAMB re England tickets, the same on other teams forums and the same on the Facebook groups etc.
Everyone has the fairest system. It just so happens their fair system almost always involves them getting the best chance of getting exactly the tickets they want.

Seeing as Hibs are there so often maybe the club should be looking to improve Hampden a bit. Maybe contribute to adding another tier onto the north stand. Now we have Easter Road looking great we really should be doing something about our second home. They could rename the north stand the Hibs stand to go with the ugly sister ends. Just a thought.

The last time you thought that figure may have been sold Hibs officially said over 15 ,500 had been Sold so would think will have surpassed 17 ,000 and sell a few more today and as you say if we win today could be another wee surge into next week

Salesremain fairly sluggish if steady.
Since yesterday 29 have gone from Block D, 28 from Block F, 67 from Block G, and 10 from Block I.
That leaves the following:
Block D..........39
Block F.........113
Block G........376
Block I............4
Total............532
Not yet on planner:
Block G6......100
Block G7......691
Block G8........86
Total............877
All............1,409

Ticket sales still slow. Maybe there will be a last rush when the ticket office opens tomorrow
Since the last update, 26 have gone from Block D, 35 from Block F, 102 from Block G, and zero from Block I.
That leaves the following avaialable:
Block D..........13
Block F...........78
Block G........274
Block I............4
Total............369
Apart from Block G6 and a few at the back of D5 and F2 all the above are single seats.
That will leave the front three rows and the back three rows from Black G6 which I do think were ever made available plus the whole of Block G7 and G8:
Block G6......100
Block G7......691
Block G8........86
Total............877
All............1,246

Even if we were to sell no more tickets that's a great effort.
I would imagine that we'll sell about another 500ish tickets between now and Friday (100 per day) and hopefully G7 is available on the day for any last minute walk ups.
Our end will look pretty damn full whatever.
Can't wait. Here we go....
