I just a had a quick squint at a Morton forum, and it seems that they refer to themselves as "the famous". Is there not another set of fans who refer to their team as such? If someone can remember who it is, we could maybe decide which team is the more famous.

Was it not the old Rangers who originally referred to themselves as the famous?

Hearts.

Might be. Though I thought it was somebody, erm, famous.

I'm genuinely astonished that they have enough fans to even need a forum.

Greenock Morton are the very definition of a tinpot club. ***** ground, ***** fans, ***** kit. Nowhere near the top flight in 30 years, nowhere near a major honour in 50 years and haven't actually lifted any trophy worth mentioning in almost 100 years.

Famous for bouncing around the lower league for more than 140 years

I had to cross the 'bridge of doom' with a group of 12 years old Morton 'casuals' last night.

What a shower of inadequates. Jumping on car bonnets, shouting and singing in the minority of Hibs fans faces and threatening to 'do' people. Turned on to Easter Road, where they were in the minority, and not a peep from them.

Their songs about Ambrose were absolutely bizarre. So wide of the mark it wasn't true.

I have always referred to us as The Mighty Hibees. Even after the last 10 years!

Famous?

I have had a few English friends ask me where Morton is this week. They have never heard of them...

Mind you they hadn't heard of Greenock either when I told them...

I advised them it shouldn't be on their tourist itinerary though. :greengrin

But you don't say "I'm going to see the Mighty" do you?

I always refer to Easter Road (the area) as "the land of milk and honey" but I don't expect anyone to know what I'm on about (though I did manage to get a namecheck and a tune on this CD https://www.discogs.com/Mike-Katz-A-Month-Of-Sundays/release/5956728)

There are actually some morons on their thread stating it was a perfectly good tackle and their "god" of a player was only sent off because of Lennon's actions/reaction. Just what planet do these idiots come from ?

They're quite well known in the Greenock area but I wouldn't say famous as most of the football fans from the area head to Glasgow to follow their team. Sadly.

"Also, fair play to whoever came up with the Kudus "he tucks the ******** in his sock" song. Bloody superb  "

I thought it was just their clothes that suggested they were living in the 1950's but theres a good old bit of racial stereotyping in there for good measure.

They probably ask him to spin a basketball when they meet him.

There's only one Efe Ambrose!

It's funny that opposition fans sing things like this or sarcastically cheer when he touches the ball and yet he's comfortably better than any player in their team.

I do actually, especially when I am talking to my mate's The Rangers supporting wife. You can see she wants to punch you, even more so after a famous day in May 2016.

Believe it or not there is a cruise ship terminal in Greenock. Great first experience of Scotland.
