View Full Version : Hibs v Falkirk, let the dot count begin ...

This weekend is a massive game (as they all are at this stage of the season). Falkirk don't have a huge travelling support and will likely only bring 500 or so I'd guess. So, what kind of turnout can we expect in the Home stands for such a crucial game and given last week's poor result against Dumbarton? I'd hope to see a total attendance of around 15-16k? Has Calum started a dot count yet?!

The Houston factor has to some extent let Falkirk assume the (wholely inappropriate in my view) role of proxy jambos in the last couple of years. Therefore interest will be high. They really need to win, we can't afford to drop points or we cement the notion our form has fallen away at worst possible time and put enormous pressure on ourselves for the Morton visit.

I'm going to be bold and say the home stands will sell out and we'll finally see home fans for a non Hibs kids game in the South.

2 cup finals coming up...

We need a full house for this one and Morton.

Saturday's crowd wasn't too good for various reasons so important we make some atmosphere Saturday and get the 3 points we need. :agree:

(Before anyone posts t- we know the usual posts about...." wish the players would turn up etc etc etc" - just be a Hibs fan and turn up and support the team in a positive manner :greengrin)

If 14000 against Dumbarton is no longer considered a good crowd it shows how far the support has progressed. A couple of seasons ago it would have been more like 8000. The crowds have been astonishing this season especially given the average performances.

Probably was nearer 8000 than 14000 mind you.

Totally agree with you cog cmon all hibbys just turn up for the few remaining games left and let's get behind the team and individual players in each game this is such an important period in our history let's do our bit with our support starting this Saturday!!!! No way was it nearer 8000. I was a bit surprised when the attendance was announced because I thought that it was more like 12,500 to 13,000.

I genuinely thought it would have actually been a shade over 10k. Dunno what the West was like, but a half full FF, East can't have had more than 4k in it and few hundred in the South.

I agree but as a matter of interest if you estimate how many were missing from each stand you come very close to 14k, well I do! West 1000 down = 6000, FF 600 missing = 3000, East don't know as that's where I was but let's say only 5000 in there and you get you 14k. Can't be far away although it's just a wild estimate 👍

You need to take account of a fair number of home supporters in the South, many of whom might have been sitting elsewhere.

I think the 14,000 quoted was pretty well correct.

The sad reality is the fans have been doing their part, the team has not done theirs. People will get disillusioned with what's been happening on the field but will stick in with the possibility of the cup final. When we secure the league would you reckon we could guarentee a full house in the home stands?

Right now that doesn't really matter. We as fans need to turn up for the next two games and hope it inspires the players to do the same. What happens next is irrelevant as we must secure the league at all costs. 👍

Very true. Like many other folk I've signed up for next season regardless of what happens this. I've no doubt we'll win this league and I think we'll retain the cup.

7 points clear at the top of the table and in the semi final would suggest the players havent done too bad up till now.

But on the flip side we've struggle against teams that we should, in theory, be pumping. Yet, for whatever reason, just isn't happening. I missed Saturday as I sat with the fear through joseph with the fear for a couple of hours. From what I've read on here it was pretty turgid (as was Joe mcelderys Joseph)and not for the first time this season.

These players just need to screw the nut on and concentrate.

In an odd way I wonder if there would be such a stooshie if all our iffy results had come away from home rather than at ER. Still, folk are absolutely allowed their opinions.

But how can you know that? The attendance is the figure given by the club. So I would guess just over 16000 for this match.

So we already know it'll be far in excess of the Dumbarton game. If you take it as 1,000 ST potential returns Thursday, we have around 13,300 tickets sold in the home stands. I think we'll easily go up to 15,500-16,000 plus whatever Falkirk bring. End of the day tomorrow will tell us a lot, but that's pretty healthy at this stage and suggests that a lot of people had forgotten about Dumbarton and were waiting on this one.

I thought we'd collect 3 points last week, and possibly drop a couple within the next 2 games. not what I expected, but I do feel that the fans realise the Falkirk game is so important and because of that there will be a big attendance. I'd be surprised if Falkirk don't bring at least 800.they think they are still in it, and have a habit of upsetting our plans.

I can't understand why this game wouldn't attract the same sort of interest as the Dundee Utd game in January i.e. a full house in the home section.

This is a huge, top of the table clash against our nearest challengers, just like it was in January. It's also a 3pm kick off on a Saturday and the Dundee Utd game was on a Friday night just after Christmas. We're constantly reminded by people that attendances are harmed by not having Saturday 3pm kick offs.

I'll be quite surprised if there's nowhere near a full attendance in the home end for this one.

Missed last week assuming it was three points in the bag
Importance of this next game now massive if Morton win
Will take someone along to this one as should be good Atmosphere if support font get to uptight early doors if we don't score

If they don't open the south and season ticket holders not planning to attend don't offer their tickets for resale then we can only have around 15,000 turning up with people wanting to attend being unable to buy tickets...............

The Dundee Utd game on 6th January, 6 days before the match there was 2288 remaining. 5 days before was 2173 (basically the same as where we are now). 4days before there was 1,658 remaining. We obviously went on to sell out the home end.

Against Falkirk in November, 5 days before the match we had 1319 seats left in the East. at the minute we have 886 left. At 9am the Thursday before the game, there was 2815 remaining (around 650 more than we have already sold, a day earlier). The attendance went on to be 14,558.

I don't think Falkirk will bring as many fans as Dundee Utd did in January so I don't think it will be our highest crowd of the season.

However I do think it will be our third highest League attendance (15492) of the season if not the second (16477).

I know we go through this all the time, but with Falkirk bringing fewer than DU, will that make a decision, or a pay-on-the-day with tickets in pods for the South Stand easier?

Don't have the skills/patience to count the lot, but a rough sample of some of the usual hotspots indicates a solid sale, and I say it's about 10% down on the last count of Calum's, so 1,852 left in home stands. Be closer to 1K by end of business today, I reckon.

Absolutely, the importance of these games can't be overstated this season, way more important than any cup final. These are the tickets Hibs fans should be scrambling for. Crunch game, 3pm Saturday KO on what looks like a glorious spring day. Baffling it's not sold out already?

I'm surprised too.

Beat Falkirk and Morton at home and we are very close to being league champions.

Needs to be a loud and positive atmosphere tomorrow and Wednesday.

3 home games in a row will price some out of it.

And as much as people say it, none of these league games are more important (or likely to be in anywhere near as much demand) as a cup final.

Edit: Add in Scotland games and it's 5 games in 10 days for some.

Over the season we have been lifted by our glorious cup win, and again we are in the semi-finals.

To the players it seems to me that they feel they have a better chance of winning the cup again and are taking their eyes of the biggest prize the League Title!!!

The manager has got to stop this late start in games, and taking the eye of the most important few matches of our season.

If the team goes out to play like its a cup final and fight like they seem to do in cup games we will be fine i'm sure!

If they come out slow and lethargic again, anything could happen?

The size of the crowd, going on past games means nothing, its what Hibs team turns up that really matters!!!

I know it doesn't have the same appeal as a cup final etc. but as Hibs fans we need to make sure we give the team all the backing we can. The consequences of losing these games are unthinkable. We need every bit of help we can get. Obviously people can only go if they can afford it and have no other commitments but if they can be there, they really should be. 👍

It shows just how good the Hibs fans have been that somewhere between 14 and 16k is considered disappointing. We would have been hailing 11 or 12k for a league game as a big deal for much of the last 7 or 8 years.

Obviously we'd all like 20k every week but outwith Celtic and Rangers there is no precedent for that in Scottish football.

My thoughts exactly. 16k for a game v Falkirk and we are disappointed. How far have we come is great. Aberdeen are 2nd in Premiership and would not get this.

Looks like home end will be close to sold out with a few hundred above fans in South. Great effort!!

Indeed. Hibs have already played Falkirk three times this season. We played them six times last season.

No wonder the supporters get fed up with seeing the same teams time after time.

However few objected to playing The Rangers for the sixth time last season!

Around 300 gone from the West (100 each from 01, 09 and 10), 160 from the East (60 from 27 and 100 from 45), but none apparently for the FF as yet.

That leaves under 1,000 left on the planner.

A wee reminder from the club.

Hibernian FC would like to reiterate our stance on pyrotechnics, which is that we condemn their usage within Easter Road Stadium and at other stadiums.
The use of pyrotechnics, including smoke bombs and flares, within football stadiums is extremely dangerous and is a serious offence, with the Club having a zero tolerance approach with regards to the carrying and usage of pyrotechnics at our matches. Recent events have led to two supporters receiving indefinite bans.
Hibernian will continue to work closely with Scottish Police, security and the football authorities to eradicate this behaviour at our matches.

For anybody who doubts that season ticket holders miss matches take a look in the Famous Five lower today, there are about 15 tickets left for sale yet there will be a couple of hundred minimum seats empty.

Similarly the central sections in the East are always sold out yet there are always plenty seats vacant.

These seats are paid for so it's no loss to the club in terms of ticket money but I reckon for some games there could quite easily be 1500 season ticket holders not attending.

Anyone down Leith way think you could get away with just a t- shirt today, Weather looking braw 14 degrees at ko supposedly ??

Roasting in my back garden in Leith - although its a sun trap. Have just headed down to Musselburgh harbour for a bit before game. T-shirt on and glorious in the sun.

A wee reminder from the club.

Reading between the lines they are saying 'flares make for a colourful spectacle - bring them along.'

Either there has been a late rush or the club have printed off loads more tickets for the pods in anticipation of of a large number of walk-ups given the lovely weather,

All you have to do is email or phone the ticket office and tell them to put your seats on sale. I did that for dundee utd game when i was in albania in january.

Does the online ticketing close off at a certain time? Can't seem to get in to buy tickets?

So going on all that - my prediction of over 16000 at this match looks a good bet :greengrin:flag:
