I often think that what people find saddest about these events is the reminder they give of their own advancing age and mortality.

Late 70's early 80's i've got this mad recollection of a pair of bright yellow trousers in my head.

I saw him at The Playhouse, wearing yellow strides, played about 45 minutes and there was quite a few boos at the end due to perceived lack of value. It was definitely mid 80s though, i was fifteen and one of my first gigs.

I saw him at the Usher Hall early 1995 in what I think was my first proper gig. It was brilliant but he didn't play Johnny B Goode which felt a bit controversial at the time. Anyway he was a great performer, guitarist and songwriter and a massive influence for a lot of other musicians. RIP.

Yip, apart from the yellow strides i do remember being disappointed at the very short set. Still chuffed i got to see one of the all time greats.

Between the Odeon and the Playhouse i must of seen the worlds top bands of the time during the late 70's, 80's and early 90's. Edinburgh was one of 'THEE' destinations for any band.

Even some of the smaller venues The Jailhouse/Venue, the Night club god can even mind Iron Maiden at Tiffany's.


I loved La Sorbonne!

Can mind when La Sorbonne first opened, I knew some of the dodgy characters that done the door. Sneaky Petes along the and Nicky Tams up the road.
