Impossible to answer.

If he doesn't play then someone else does and they may score , set up a goal ect ect ect. Its not as simple as saying takeaway 20 odd goals and we would be in x position.

No doubt he is very important to the team though.

We went without his goals for a while earlier in the season and we were still challenging.

Without him we would have either brought someone else in or someone like Keats or Boyle would have had to step up.

Would be a struggle without him though.

Where would we be?

Look at any team and take away the top scorer's goals. What's your point?

We could have a dose of the flu or even pleurisy..........

Where would we be?

Still be in Leith.

Or Edinburgh.

What's your point caller? Are you suggesting we'd be Finnish?

Exactly. It's not as if we'd be playing with 10 men if Cummings didn't start. (Think we've statistically more often ended up playing with 10 when he has started.)

Is It On....

All he does is score goals ffs 🤔

We missed Griffiths' goals when he left. I imagine we'd struggle without Cummings.

Top of the league and Keatings would have 15+

He's not Finnish, he's only 21.

Thought he looked very sharp v Ayr hopefully continues with that form.

What was our goal scoring rate when he wasn't playing earlier in the season compared to when he does play? That's your answer.

Agree with this. Take away our keeper we'd probably lose a few goals as well... That being said the number of times that Cummings has dug us out this season (Raith away, Morton away) and the goals in big games like Hearts and his goal on Friday is incredible.

Never understood some of the stick he gets. Boy behind me on Friday saying we should have sold him in Jan after his handball... ludicrous. He's not flawless, but show me a player that is at 21 years old. 68 goals. Some talent we've got on our hands and we should enjoy the goals while he's still here.

Where would we be?
And where would we be if we still had commons scoring from midfield? But we don't

Im sure threads similar to this came up when super Leigh was banging them in for us. Impossible to answer and also for all I rate cummings, if/when he finally leaves we will hopefully get someone just as good, if not better.

Where would we be?

I understand the point but lets be honest...where would Barcelona be without Messi, Neymar and Suarez? Where would Madrid be without Ronaldo, Modric etc.?

Name any team and you could single 2-3 players that are crucial. In my lifetime, Arsenal's "invincibles" are the only side where I thought nearly the whole team were of substantial quality. Even Chelsea at the moment are a Hazard, N'Golo (didn't like his surname for some reason?!?) and Costa away from a crisis.

Hammer 18
Boyle 7
Graham 5
Holt 4

Boyle has chipped in but not enough from the rest of the squad.

Hopefully when we go up we can bring in one more quality goalscorer because we can't always rely on JC, Liam Boyce for example. Holt, if he can, should stay another year to play the target man role. Keep Boyle for his pace and the wide option to use occasionally and the rest can be let go imo.

We'd probably be in at least as good a position in the league or better, depends who we replaced him with.

Too simplistic to think we would necessarily score fewer goals - when he got left out ealier we were still scoring.

Also, Shinnie was far more effective when Boyle was making runs for him - just a shame Boyle isn't a natural goalscorer.

Cummings latching onto Shinnie's pass was a joy to behold - lets hope JC can do more of that. Of course, starting off from an onside position always helps. :greengrin

Without Shearer's goals no Championship for Blackburn

Without Wright's goals no Skol Cup

Without Geoff Hurst's two goal hat-trick no World Cup

No Robbo no record.
