What a player, if only we had a full back of his abilities today, truely it was a privilege to see him play, at his peak, Easter Road.

My auld man who was originally from the Niddrie 20 and followed the hi bees for nigh on 70 years mentioned John Brownlie on more than one occasion as being the best right back he had ever seen until very very unfortunately breaking his leg. Says it all for me.
