There appeared to be about 40 empty seats in the West hospitality which was sad given how desperate folk were to get to the game

From the West I spotted roughly 7-8 seats, more or less in three contiguous rows, at the far southern extreme of the East Stand last night, roughly half way up - presumably purchased by a group that could not attend?

Or by a group who moved to stand at the front?

Spoke to someone working at the game last night and they stated that there were 20 seats in reserve. Presumably to cover incase seats were inadvertently sold twice. Didn't say where they were and I didn't ask.

Normally get 25 to 30 thousand for a cup final. Would a cold winters night appeal to the day trippers

don't know why there is a funny shape to the Dunbar end if it was continued round to the East it would look better, but more importantly it would provide a fair bit more seating whether it was allocated to home or away fans.

I've been at a New Year Derby at Easter Road where we had more than 50,000.

Anyone know if it's possible to estimate what the capacity could be at ER if the corners were filled in ??

It's because of the road behind the stand. Same for the west corner of the FF

if in the Hibs end then maybe 25,000
if the away end then maybe 30,000
if both then maybe 35,000
mainly because it was a blackout so a bit of a one off

i would guesstimate about 1500 for each corner that can be filled in. Not sure all 4 can there was some doubt about Albion Road and the NW corner. So maybe around 4 - 5,000

I suspect around 3,000. The other two corners can take nothing more than big screens.

It would certainly transform the atmosphere.

The two corners would be the obvious place to put in safe standing without disrupting anyone.

Going by the number of people that couldn't get tickets, I reckon we could have shifted another 5-10k for last night. Quite incredible.

For that game quite a few thousand, but the danger is at other times you couldcend up with rows of empty seats & a poor atmosphere. Think the stadium is just about the right size for todays Hibs.

Fans are fickle, for many a season in days gone by I have been one of only 7 or 8 thousand at a game.

Been meaning to ask this for a while, but what's the deal with the section of covered seats at the lower left of the East Stand?

3,383 v. St Johnstone midweek in the early 90s was the smallest crowd I can remember.

I love ER when it was full like Wednesday  can't expect people outwith season ticket holders to come every weekend though. It's an expensive hobby especially when you have kids as well!

PS just joined and before posting this got told i have broken the board rules?! This is my first post so how is that possible?

I think there is just enough room for the lower deck of the south to be extended to be level with the east as could both decks of the FF. Doing that would bring the east into the body of the stadium and probably increase capacity to about 21,000 ... we certainly don't need a capacity above that, it may be a good thing for when there is a big demand, but not for the 99% of the time when ER's crowds are below capacity.

I doubt the cost would be justifiable for such a small increase in capacity, but it would be nice to see it happen :greengrin

I remember that. I think we won 2-0 on a roasting hot day. They were already relegated and we had nothing to play for.

We lost 1-0, the crowd was less than 1,200, and we were the team that was already relegated.

Apart from that, you're 100% correct

have to disagree mr nookie we are now the big team we need to build two more tiers on every stand and fill in the corners with a hotel, concert hall,a casino, and a lap dancing club.with 400,001 fans we need the space and plenty things for them do:na na::na na::flag::flag::flag::flag::flag::flag::flag:
