View Full Version : Romanov's Rug-Rats Can't Take it

Hi Heid Yin

If you haven't already done so, then go check out the comments section in The Edinburgh Evening News.
Romanov's Rug-Rats - namely, those who grew up knowing nothing but financial doctoring and corruption in order to gain an unfair advantage on the pitch, are tonight squirming and squeeking, with some still in denial about Hibs dominating hearts both on and off the pitch.
It really is so satisfying to finally enjoy an unbeaten sequence in the Edinburgh derby and trump them with the highest attendances in Edinburgh these past few seasons.

I've been looking at the reaction too.

Derbies are all about Hearts and what they do apparently. They have the better players and if they decide to play to their max, they'll win no matter what. This applies to the upcoming replay.

It's a hell of a coincidence that Hearts and their players just decided that they didn't want to turn up to any derbies in nearly three years. In all these games they beat themselves for some reason or another.

A more realistic theory is that maybe we have players that are a bit better than they think with a better attitude. Maybe their players aren't quite as good as they think they are, even this new crop.

However, one thing that can't be explained is their midfielders bottling it every time they play us. Maybe they'll have to look at the very fabric of their club for answers to that one.

We have the opposite effect going on. Our young crew haven't really seen Hearts dominate us for quite a few years. They were really gallus before the game and I was a 40 year veteran thinking what 40 year old veterans think. They lucky B's will only need a shot, the ref will gift them it, will we get bullied etc. You then start remembering back to when I was their age when I thought we would win most Derbies. Back then we did for a couple of years before they started injecting stolen money and dominating. Here's is hoping they suffer long years of Hibs being the dominant Derby team. On a level playing field there is every chance of that.

:agree: spot on.

we're unbeaten in the games we've not lost against them for at least 50 years (although I think it could be longer).

I reckon they won't fill their end in the replay.
A they are scared we beat them.
B They don't want to increase the capitals biggest football attendance for at ER this season any more than it already is.

I think it was around 1965/66.

I remember my Jambo dad stopping the car to ask somebody the score [it was 2-1 or something]. I was a nipper in the back of the car and I said "maybe he got it wrong", I was firmly told "don't be stupid", ah well, come the start of 1973 and I had been going for several years by then, I had still never seen them beat us, although I did go to a new year game around 1966, hibs were 2-0 up at halt time and because they were getting stuffed, he took us home, hearts ended up winning the game 3-2 and he was asleep in the armchair when the result came through, he wasn't a happy chappie when I told him the news he woke up.

The inverse is true as well - for people like myself, who became Hibs fans around the same time Romanov took over, I'm always expecting us to eventually crash and burn and start losing to them again. Maybe I'll calm down if we get to 15 in a row. :worried:

Hard to tell who's weirder between the 'red hand' saluting union jack waving sad sack and the greasy old creep trying to hang out with kids 30 years his junior.

At Tynecastle, yes. 50 years since they last beat us there in the Scottish Cup.

And even better than that, we've a 100% record against them, home AND away, in games we've won since 1875.

The guy at the top playing with his bawsack is quite disturbing too.
