The referee on sunday is......Willie Collum!

Guaranteed to be a terrible decision that influences the game with him in charge.

They absolutely hate him, so that has to be a good thing.

Problem is he's not a cheat just useless.

Agree appalling referee with no concept of the game IMO. Should have been McLean or Madden who although not perfect at least give an indication they understand the game. Collum lurches from one shocker to another. The number of appalling decisions he has managed to make in the last season or so would suggest that there is absolutely minimal or no proper monitoring of a referees performance in this country.

2 previous derbies he has missed 2 retrospective red cards for Hearts players in the first half of games which ended in draws and would have had a huge impact on the outcome of the game.

Could be worse but he will probably still play a part in the result.

What retrospective reds were these? There's been that many that I've no idea who was culpable for what.

Templeton at ER on McPake with the ref in a perfect view to see the kick and Stevenson appalling over the top tackle on McPake at PBS at New Year.

McLean would have been my choice. Best we have by a distance.

I always feel Collum is on the verge of losing the plot abd he seems to get increasingly worked up as a game goes on which leads to the daft decisions that are his trademark. I'd reckon a red card or a penalty are a stick on for Sunday.

The only positive is he's a fair type of useless so it could go in our favour.

I count 5 as there was liam craigs in october 2013 (mcpake red carded during the match) and also the 2 retrospectively given to jamie walker and Lewis stevenson after the tynecastle derby in august 2014. He sent scott Robertson and osman sow off in that game too.

There's bound to be a red card related incident on sunday. Or maybe monday actually.

You just know that if the game is evenly balanced and uneventful he will get involved and change it.

I would rather have thomson to be honest. I think WC is far worse and gives us nothing against them. The number of retrospective card dished out to them after derby games he referees is ridiulous and made Neilson comments about training with 10 men when they know he's refereeing the next game even more laughable. Pretty sure he was in charge when Templeton stamped on McPake right in front of him, the knee high assault by Stevenson again on McPake and one when Lewis and one of them got done post match. Might be wrong that they were all his but nonethe less he is quite simply unable to handle an Edinburgh derby and should be no where near this fixture.

He always looks like he's got a decision in him that he knows is wrong and he'll go with it anyway. He then has that look on his face where he knows what everyone else is thinking and knows that he's wrong, but he'll just brass neck it anyway.

As a result of that complaint he wasn't allocated a game at the PBS for ages I believe.

It would appear to be a conspiracy against them. You couldn't make it up.

I'd really like to see the penalties given stats between us and them the last four years. They seem to get pens every other week.

I think it was Collum they were referring to when Neilson said (in public) that the Yams practiced playing with 10 men in training when they knew Collum was going to referee their forthcoming match(s).

So, they've already got Collum under pressure not to send any of their players off etc.

Which is perhaps a tad hypocritical, given the retrospective derby red cards mentioned earlier.

Selective memory is great - Houston's also an expert at it.

Let's hope the public whinging doesn't influence anything on Sunday...

Not sure about overall records, but we've certainly had more penalties given in derbies than them in the last decade or so. All of them have been legitimate (both for or against us), except one..

7th May 2009: Derek Riordan (Hibs) (1-0)
1st May 2010: Anthony Stokes (Hibs) (1-2)
3rd April 2011: Liam Miller (Hibs) (2-2)
2nd Jan 2012: Ian Black (Hearts) - saved (1-3)
19th May 2012: Danny Grainger (Hearts)
2nd Jan 2014: Liam Craig (Hibs) (2-1)
17th Aug 2014: Liam Craig (Hibs) - saved (1-2)
17th Aug 2014: Prince Buaben (Hearts) (1-2)

So in the last 10 years that's 8 penalties awarded - 5 to us and 3 to them.

Horrid ref. There's always at least one horrific, head scratcher of a decision in him per game.

I suppose the only small mercy is that he is a "equal opportunities for all" kinda guy when it comes to **** decisions so it might work in our favour.

Or goals where the scorer is well onside being ruled out for offside?

Retrospective reds is probably 4 to them and 2 to us - I remember something mental like 3 happening in one season or something like that (second season under Fenlon).

We absolutely win in disallowed goals. Griffiths' spectacular free kick and Jordon Forster's header (the least offside goal you will ever see) that may well have relegated them on that day (if we went on to score another) and spared us.

At least he is not as bad as Hugh Dallas was when reffing us against any other team.

My biggest fear about Collum is that he will be conned by Walker's diving.

Still hope it will be a good game and we come out of Tynie smiling.

Just last weekend the Yams were beneficiaries of another dubious decision. Didn't think the Motherwell tackle was a red, might have been a yellow at worst and it swung the game for them. Hope Collum has a decent game and the Yams are not helped out again by dodgy match officials.
