The guy is just a class act in all aspects. Not only is he a cracking solid defender but the way he talks in interviews is superb. His passion and pride of playing for his boyhood team shines through in every single interview. I'd encourage if you haven't yet, to check out his latest one of HibsTV today. Talks about captaining Hibs for the first time ever in the Bonnyrigg game and how special a moment that was.

Just had to get it out there, aye, what a man!!

Very brave of you to come out of the closet so publicly, CH. Hibs is a progressive, inclusive club and will support you. Have you told Darren directly how you feel? :greengrin

What a guy. Eloquently expresses exactly what you'd imagine you'd be like in his shoes. Lewis jumping as we lifted the cup captured the essence too. What a day.

That's spot on IMO- he's living his own dream and everyone else's on our behalf. Plays exactly the way you think you would if you were in his shoes. Rare these days to see a player be lifted to higher levels just because he's wearing a certain shirt.

Came across really well on the Time for Heroes dvd too.

Cant believe Sevco let him go, especially after watching the dross they've brought in to replace him.

I think he might even be a future Hibs manager. Can't articulate exactly what makes me think that, just an instinct.

When it came. How blummin fortunate there were Hibees running through the cup run from the first until the last moment. And not a bunch of journeymen that didn't give a toss. We Hibs-it with Hibees.

Would run through walls for the club, such a difference from the imposters we've had in years gone by (pre Stubbs). Lennon is clearly a huge fan too, I enjoyed the interview in which he described Darren as 'the ideal defender, completely solid at the back and utterly **** on the ball,' or something very similar. :greengrin

If I found him in bed with my Mrs I'd offer him a Lucozade to keep his performance levels up. Not that he'd need it though, it would just be an excuse to talk to him.

Clear handball and would have been shouting for it had it been the other way. :agree: Summed up our day when our best defender could have given away a penalty due to a bad touch.

We definitely got away with that one. I've added it to the list of big decisions that have gone our way. It's just after Paul Hanlon's goal v Dunfermline a few years back that never crossed the line.

Not seen a replay of their goal yesterday so I don't know if Darren was at fault individually for it ....... but what I would say is that for the next 86 minutes he never lost a challenge in the air or on the ground. How he never got MOM is beyond me .... whatever happens this season he has to be a good shout for POTY even in front of the usual suspects.

Think he's probably a certainty to get POTY.

Goal looked like a comedy of errors but I was most concerned by Fontaine's bizarre backing off when the guy brought the ball into the box.

He has been a decent signing for us overall but he's declining fairly rapidly and tries to do way too much with the ball as well as (at times) taking far too many touches before releasing it. That's the difference with McGregor- he knows he's not Sauzee and shifts the ball on to others pretty quickly.

In saying that I thought he was really good in the second half yesterday! I am worried about Hanlon's absence next week though.

Fontaine had a shaky start, was tentative and all over the place at the goal, but he put it behind him and went on to put in an excellent performance.

He's a good player, a good guy and some of these comments are just ridiculous.

Id be gutted if Fontaine left. What other team has that kind of quality as a third choice CB? He'd probably start for any other team in Scotland except Celtic. A good guy with loyalty and genuine affection for the club by all accounts as well.

Agreed.

Fonts has been a decent signing, Scottish Cup Winning Legend and good bloke from what is said here and on social media.

If you look at yesterday's goal against Fonts doesn't cover himself in glory but DM, who has been and is quality, gets done twice by the scorer.

Fonts is third choice definitely, but as someone has already said when was the last time we had a third choice centre half of that quality? He's not the same player he was 2 and a half years ago when he signed but you can't right him off because we conceded one goal and he was part of a long list of errors in the build up to it.
