View Full Version : Question Players We've Signed 3 Times?

I know that Anthony Stokes hasn't signed (yet) but it got me thinking of other players that have played in three different spells at ER. I think Ivan Sproule was one (admittedly his third spell was an unmitigated disaster) but has there been any others?

I certainly can't recall another.

How many times was the Griffiths loan redone?

Sproule was only here twice. Thomson is the only one I can think of.

I can't think of anyone other than Kevin Thomson.

Loads who have signed twice.

Sure Ivan only signed twice.

You're correct and I was wrong (again) as according to Wikipedia it was only twice.

Explains why that 3rd spell was so bad [emoji6]

Does Mixu count even though his third signing was as a manager?

How many times was the Griffiths loan redone?

He went back to Wolves twice in the middle of his time here but not sure if that would count. It isn't clear whether he played for Wolves either time he went back. Signed by Calderwood until January when Phil Airey left. Loan extended before it expired, so that first season counts as one spell. Went back to Wolves, we re-loaned him in July (so possible pre-season games played for Wolves) until January. Returned to Wolves because Saunders wanted him back and then Twitter-gate happened. He came back mid-January. Doubt he played for them during that spell in January.

Grant brebner? We signed him as a loan twice then a permanent?

He only had two spells here. One on loan then permanent. We loaned him out to Stockport but if we are counting when he came back from that as a third spell there will be loads of youngsters who presumably fall into this category.

Gary Caldwell (sort of).
Initially on loan from Newcastle. He went back to them but returned to us as a fully signed player. At the end of that spell he went to a Dutch club on trial but didn't sign for them. He then signed up for another spell with us.

Not Hibs related but Motherwell signed James McFadden 3 times, sure they had the who's been signed by a club 3 times chat on off the ball when he signed for the third time but McFadden is the only one I can remember.

Sproule was only singed twice, I think.

But he wasn't half on fire both times.

Just received a message from someone at Blackburn who's saying we wont meet the wages for Stokes, there's a little game of poker going on here i think.

Does being a ball boy count? If so Ian Murray before playing for Dundee utd, then played twice for us.

How many Andy Gorams did we sign?

The first, trim, non biggotted Andy Goram signed from Oldham is probably the best player I have ever seen play for Hibs. Truly world class. Sadly when he went "west" his attitude changed.

How many players have had two spells at Hibs?

I can think, off the top of my head, of Bobby Johnstone, Joe Baker, Mickey Weir, Derek Riordan, Ian Murray, Gary O'Connor, Pat McGinlay, Paul Hartley (?), Mixu Patelainen, and Leigh Griffiths (?),
