How long is he out for?

Can we expect him back for the Hearts game?

I think he'll be back next week. In his pre-match Hibs TV interview Lennon said the plastic pitches aren't great for Hanlon's hip/pelvis and this game might be a week too soon for him.

He is just about fit, from what i heard he was 50/50 to play today, but missing playing on astro will help him in coming weeks

Plastic pitch wont help any injuries.

Paul Hanlon facing surgery on a pelvic problem. Means Hibs and Neil Lennon could be forced into bringing in another defender.

I've been skeptical of artificial surfaces since Joe Theisman (Redskins QB) got his leg broken as it dragged on the surface. I'm sure there has been plenty of studies. My physio a while back said the SFA had a report that talked of injuries but on they proceed. Seems to me these surfaces are purely there for financial reasons. Lawsuit will flip it in time I'd imagine

Disaster. He's a massive player for us.

Not good news on a day that so far has been excellent for Hibs. Speedy recover I hope

It never looks right, the ball skooshes along differently on the surface and several clubs tend to rest certain players if they need to face the opposition on it. the club that has it, must have a slight advantage to start, if they train all week on it surely?

Doubt it. We have Fontaine, McGregor and Forster. I think we can do without.

Bad news for Hanlon though. Hopefully he returns fully recovered and able to contribute to the run in.

the best news from Kenny Millar needs to be a possible swap of Patterson to Ipswich with Berra to Gorgie

Really sad if Paul ends up missing a lot of football. Huge player for us. Fontaine is a more than adequate replacement though

Pelvis is a hard injury to overcome from what I understand. Not good.

More of a concern for the cup than anything else. Hopefully better news to come.

He will be out for minimum 3 weeks, the frustrating thing is this could have been done a few weeks ago!

A few weeks ago we were level with DUFC. If he was able to get through the games and put off the op till we were say eight points clear then it's the right decision.

Is this guy reliable?

If it's true we still have decent options

Yeah, he's pretty close to the truth on all Hibs related stuff

6-8 weeks would be my guess.

Big loss and while we have cover he is our arguably our best centre half, certainly best passer and most composed on the ball.

Back by mid to end of March so would miss about 8 league games and 2 rounds of cup (assuming we progress).

If you recall Paul Hanlon was off injured last season too. Missed the League Cup final IIRC. However, he did turn up when it got to the business end of the season. I expect the same this season too, Paul.

Anywhere from 3 weeks out to most of the season according to posts above ....anyone with knowledge able to narrow this down?

He had a few injections in the pelvic area and this looked to have worked, however it returned in training this week which is a pity because he was seemingly flying in training.

I think the op is the same as David Gray had and it only kept him out for a couple of weeks IIRC.

Not sure if the op has been decided upon as the way forward.

Big miss, PH and Daz have been tremendous. Feel for him missing the cup game, he'll be gutted.

Wait until we hear what is really happening before you get too upset! This is based on a story that is at odds with what Neil Lennon said, and lets hope for him returning next week.
