Need some advice on replacing an electric oven with a gas one, the oven is built in to the actual kitchen fittings so not sure how easy it would be to do this.

Ikea installed the kitchen, would I be best to go back to them to get advice?

You will need a gas supply connected to the oven, and this really should be done by a gas safe engineer. If you have a supply in situ then easy peasy. If not it may be more tricky, Ikea units don't have service gaps behind the units so pipes would need to be run under the units. Do t call Ikea as they subcontract all of their work and add 20% odds on to the price of any work. Do you have the number of the fitter who installed your kitchen? If so he may be able to give you a plumbers number

The hob is gas so there is a supply there which helps. I will have to ask my boyfriends parents who installed it as it's a family property. Thanks for the tips

Is there a reason for changing from an electric oven to gas? Gas hobs are great but electric ovens, especially fan assisted, are generally considered better than their gas counterparts.

People do say that.
I hate my fan assisted oven. With a passion. I much preferred my old gas oven (and would probably not mind a non-fan electric oven, to be fair), because it had heat variation in different parts of the oven, and was less drying and FIERCE. Even with temperature adjustment, it lacks sensitivity, and just cooks differently. And not in a good way.

Fair enough, many electric ovens (at least mines anyway) can heat without the fan. My wife bakes cakes for a hobby and she prefers the constant heat with the electric oven without the fan assist. There's also an upper element that helps brown cakes off as opposed to the gas as well.
Neither are as bad as AGA's/Braeburns mind, it takes years to master those!

I've always had a gas oven, was brought up and taught how to cook with one and now having to use an electric one it's soooo frustrating! Either over cooks or under cooks and cause the grill is part of it I can never get the cheese on my cheese on toast to go the way I like it :greengrin

Unfortunately the fan in my oven doesn't switch off. Wish I could. Baking, as your wife has obviously also found, is a challenge. Cannae make meringues in it at all, either. Yet people rave about them...
