View Full Version : Scorecasts for Bonnyrigg

I had a really vivid dream that we struggled to beat them and only won 2-0 with a late penalty and an immediate second goal (as we were celebrating the first). It's a sign! My scorecasts is Hibs 2-0 Bonnyrigg with Cummings first scorer.

What you thinking?

4 nil then we'll slow things down. A comfortable win is all I'm looking for, no need to go chasing huge scoreline and knacker players for next week. I'd start with a full strength team but once we are two or three ahead, look to make changes.

With gray suspended and Hanlon injured it will be interesting to see what team we play.

Would like to see Crane, Martin, Forster and potentially shaw given a chance.

Laidlaw

Forster mcgregor fonts Crane

Humphrey fyvie Mcginn Shinnie

Shaw Cummings/holt

Give some much needed game time to players that haven't played as much recently and gives fyvie and Mcginn extra minutes under there belt from there injury.

Would like them to give Keatings and Rocky 90 mins to help get them eased back into things

Cummings 90 minutes to score and keep his confidence high.
Graham and Forster 90 minutes to give them game time.

McGinn & Fyvie 60 mins

Are Bonnyrigg any better than the likes of Edinburgh city that was my initial comparison. If that is the case I'd expect us to tuck them away convincingly.

I honestly don't care what the score is as long as we win because we'll get ridiculed for anything less than a win.

Bonyrigg standard is about on par with the top Lowland League sides. I would fancy East Kilbride to beat them and it would be tight between then and teams like Spartans and East Stirlingshire. Edinburgh City are playing at arguably a higher level and we absolutely hammered them in pre season.

If Hibs turn up to anywhere close to the standard expected we will beat them very comfortably.

There are always instances of teams doing well in off games but I would suggest if you look at the overall record of Junior and Senior teams against top level oppostion more often than not they lose and lose heavily. For instance Motherwell beat Cove Rangers (who were 2nd top of the Highland at the time) 5-0 last season.

If its close or a draw then the players have not played at a level that is acceptable as the difference in levels is huge.

Fancy us to play well and dominate but inexplicably find ourselves two goals down to inferior opposition with only ten minutes left on the clock. Then we score and launch a late rally, culminating in a scrambled stoppage time goal to draw the tie.

In the replay we get off to flier with an early Cummings goal, but that's it, poor show but enough to put us into the next round. Once again though, a plucky Scottish Cup show by a smaller club.

I don't think it's a case of people thinking Hibs are 'only capable of beating Bonnyrigg 1-0'. Everyone is aware Hibs are a far better team in every single area but the big/small occasion can sometimes be a bit of a leveller.

I don't think anyone thinks Hearts were only capable of beating Auchinleck 1-0, Celtic only capable of beating East Kilbride 2-0 and Whitehill 3-0 or even Hibs only beating Irvine Meadow 3-0.

Hibs should win and relatively comfortably but I don't see a 7 or 8 goal margin. A professional job and a 1 or 2 goal victory would be fine imo, if we manage a few more then great.

Many appear to think our gulf in class will equate to a big result for us.

I take a more cautious approach, taking into account that this is Bonnyrigg's cup final, and noting that in our last game we struggled to beat Dumbarton ...a part time out fit...1-0

I also note that Bonnyrigg knocked Dumbarton out the cup last round by the same score line.

A bit of complacency and a couple of players out, and we have the climate for an upset.
