Oh no surely that can't be right? There must be some mistake as I thought the rangers fans showed "great restraint" and were all heroes that day?

Currently serving a jail term in NI for something different.

Shocking behaviour - has Andy Walker come out and stated "this is a national disgrace". Copied below is the report in the Daily Ranger - feel dirty just clicking on the link, so copied below to prevent others feeling the same.

http://i3.dailyrecord.co.uk/incoming/article9618752.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/utils.jpg

Darren McDonald, 40, travelled from Ballymena, County Antrim, to support his team when he was caught on camera after the match.
He was named and pictured in the media after the game that saw Hibs beat Rangers 3-2 on May 21.
At Glasgow Sheriff Court he pled guilty to running on to the pitch after the final whistle and kicking the man on the head or body.
Sheriff Stuart Reid handed McDonald jail time and a three-and-a-half-year football banning order.
McDonald is currently serving a sentence in Northern Ireland and the latest jail term is to start after that finishes.
Footage from the match was played to the court and newspaper articles from the time that reported the incident with McDonald were brought to the sheriff’s attention.
McDonald was seen wearing a pink T-shirt and has distinctive tattoos.
The unknown Hibs fan was lying on the grass, having been assaulted by someone else.
McDonald ran over to him and pulled his right leg back to kick him but slipped and fell backwards.
The court heard that the momentum meant his leg made accidental contact with the Hibs fan’s head or body.
He then got up and ran off, leaving the Hibs supporter on the ground.

The subtle point of this report is "the court heard" implying that this is what actually happened. Surely it should have read "The defendant claimed that".
Yet another underhand effort by the medja at moulding the news.
Update: I see this very point has been raised on another thread.

In the last few months this The Rangers fan from NI has appeared in court for 2 separate offences so I think it's fair fair to assume his future is somewhat "challenged".

He was enthusiastically running towards the Hibs fan to shake his hand and say 'Well done to the Hibees, that hoodoo is finally broken and I'd like to buy you a pint afterwards." Sadly the unfortunate slip put paid to all that.

Looks to me like his big external nappy must have played a part in his fall.

At least the media aren't able to spin this one as being a west of Scotland football supporter or Scottish cup supporter. If it looks like a hun and smells like a hun it's a hun.

Revealing that nowhere in the report can the Record bring itself to use the phrase "Rangers supporter".Hope the new columnist ,a certain Ms Sturgeon , has higher standards.

They use 'hibs fan' in the article, so it's not like the hack could even claim the absence of 'rangers fan' is just stylistic.

It just goes to show how quickly things can change in football. At 4.35 on that sunny saturday afternoon Darren McDonald was anticpating celebrating a first Scottish cup win since the old rangers were liquidated. He was possibly singing songs about Alan Stubbs and perhaps one or two about an ancient battle near a river in Leinster. He could well have been doing "the bouncy". Darren McDonald was happy.

By 4.55 rangers were beaten, the Hibs had won the cup and Darren McDonald had just bought himself jail time for an assault on the pitch, caught on camera and watched by a live TV audience. It's a funny old game eh Dazzler :cb

F'ing disgrace to Scotland, they embarrass the country every time they are allowed to travel anywhere.

I wonder how the supporters of Hamburg FC will react to this seeing as they seem to have some sort of love in with the Currant Buns, I even noticed a Hamburg flag at their end during the cup final ..... perhaps somebody should make them aware of the attitude of their 'The Rangers' buddies to their city being flattened by the RAF.

One thing from the final that I haven't seen mentioned before is the contrasting reactions from the fans after the goals. When we score there's just huge joy & overwhelming emotion. When The Rangers score there's the same initial joyful reaction but quickly followed in many cases by the usual obscene gestures directed at our support. They really did think they only had to turn up to win, their arrogance is matched only by their ignorance.

Yep, kick someone lying on the ground and therefore unable to defend themselves then run and away and hide. What a big hard man eh

Makes their victim act and their pathetic "the rangers fans were only trying to save the players, great restraint, disgusted at hibs fans behaviour, we are innocent blah blah blah" statement seem even more ridiculous. It absolutely astonishes me that rangers continue to believe they are poor wee picked on victims and their statements expressing "shock and disgust" at other fans behaviour. They just really do not get irony at all do they hahahaha! The fans group statements in particular are beyond parody, they are genuinely hard to believe that its not some hibs or celtic fan at the wind up. I believe the last one went along the lines of "we are shocked and disgusted at the bigotry towards us", aye well welcome to our world ya cretins, we've had to put up with your bile for years.
