Interesting stuff - especially this part ....

She said the real reason was television channels in the UK not willing to accept the show as it was.

She said: “They all wanted to cut it substantially either for content or for time. The people who make this show feel very strongly about it and they weren’t willing to accept that – and then along came Amazon Prime.””

BTW Diana, who exactly are "THEY"? The BBC? ITV? What TV companies do mean?
Why would 'they' not want to show the film version of a best selling series of book as it was? :hmmm:
It's no worse than the sex, violence and infinite soaps drivel they subject us to on a daily basis.

i don't know anything about the indyref stuff etc. and personally I wouldn't be surprised if that was the reason, but there are some episodes of Outlander - one at the end of Season 1 in particular - which were a LOT stronger in terms of content than anything I have seen in a tv series.
